Laundry Question Help - I need help getting a stain out of a t-shirt. It is 100% preshrunk cotton. I only wear this shirt at my volunteer job since it is mandatory and has the company logo on it. I feed children so I am thinking it is a food stain of some kind. I accidentally put it thru the dryer with the stain still on it. It is kind of greasy looking and I'm afraid it is kind of "cooked in" now. I have already replaced one t-shirt because of stains (it was practically new) and I have to pay for each shirt. Any ideas? Thanks. |
Try treating it with oxyclean. |
What color is the T shirt. I would apply a good strong degreaser and let it set then try it again. |
Try using Dawn dish soap. I would cover the stain with it, let it sit for awhile. At your sink, use the hottest water the fabric and you can tolerate and try to rinse it out. If that doesn't work, they do make stain stick removers that I've used before and they will get out motor oil and other greasy stains. |
It's red. |
My mom usually just creates a paste with the laundry detergent (if you use powder). She'll mix a tiny bit of water with the detergent and put in on the stain, then let it sit for a couples hours, giving it a little scrub a couple times in between - then she'll run it through the wash. Carpet cleaner has been known to remove a few stains of mine as well. Good luck! |
Plain old dish soap gets greese stains out of clothes pretty good:thumbup: |
Thanks for the suggestions. I am trying the Dawn solution first since that is what I have in the house right now. |
I have had really good luck on greasy stains with the Spray N Wash stain sticks. Even if they have gone through the dryer already. Nancy |
I vote for the dawn |
I tried the Dawn and it worked great. I still see a very slight trace of the stain. Even tho I think it is pretty good now, I am going to try the Spray and Wash stick and see if the rest comes out. Thanks again for the great suggestions. |
Also , the tide pens work great on other stains and are really handy to carry in your purse. |
After going thru a dryer it's going to be tough getting it out, if it does come out at all. I'd mix the powdered oxy clean with a little water and rub into the stain and let set for about and hour, then rinse it out let dry and see if that works. I know oxy clean takes rust stains out of the cement by our house. :) |
