How about low-fat yogurt or Nabisco 100 Calorie snack packs?:) |
it's hard eh?? i'm in university and some days i am there ALL Day.. there are TONS of fastfood places on campus but i try and bring my own snacks... popcorn is relatively healthy.. you can pop it the night before and put it in a baggie... or if you have a microwave at school just do it there... i try and bring fruit that is in season... i LOVE sugar so i try and keep it natural!! i'll mix a bunch of berries together and bring them for a snack... how about crackers and cheese?? i'ts so hard.. good for you for being healthy :) |
I eat alot of organic food and I try to tell myself that the organic snacks are healthy... well they are healthier then snacks that are filled with artifical flavors. I really like the organic pop tarts and the organic oreos (by newmans own brand... I dont have the package I think they are called newman O's) |
Apples, tangerines, cucumber slices, rice cakes, turkey slices rolled in lettuce leaves, unsweetened applesauce in those little individual packs .... these have been some of my snacks lately ..... I am working at shedding some of me. I also make huge salads withjust the "free" veggies -- lettuce, tomato, green pepperm, cucumber, carrot, celery. Makes me think I am having a lot of food and none of it really has much in the way of calories. Add some low-fat swiss cheese, boiled egg, and turkey strips to get some protein. |
what dressing so you use? my gyno says no ranch if you want to lose weight but my general doc says no italian since it has all that oil, i like both and im acquiring a taste for catalina, but which is healthy that you know of, or think? thanks Quote:

sugar Free Jello - low cal snack bars - salads - and some veggies are even good cold....I used to love making cabbage and then the next day eating it cold....and I'm addicted to apples - someone turned me onto Fuji apples and they're the best ! |
i started weight watchers two weeks ago, and doing great on the program. i sit at a desk all day long even though i'm a school nurse so i stress the importance of healthy snacks to the children. of yours your average, cheese, fruits and veggies.. but to be more specific you can do those tuna salad packs.. they come with tuna and crackers, a little salad would do, definitely if you want something small a banana is great for almost everything! those 100 cal snack packs are great too, little sandwhiches are great too. apple sauce.. goldfish snacks? lol .. ok that's all i could think of right now lol. |
Almonds are a great snack to have on hand - so are grapes. I love celery w/ organic peanut butter...yum! I normally do not use salad dressing - but when I do, it is Newmans olive oil and vinegar. - and even then, I measure it. I heard you can still do ranch, but just dip your fork in it and then pick up your forkful of salad - this way, you get the ranch taste, just not a plate of "ranch" salad. Pringles has some new chips that are dried sweet potato chips - those might be good and healthy for you - I just seen the commercial. |
I love raw broccoli and cauliflower. |
thanks ... bump |
Almonds, peanuts, or any other kind of nuts are high in protien and fulfilling. |

I keep no fat chips - Lays, I think - I like the sour cream and cheese and the BBQ. I also keep Quakes - I like the new kettle corn flavor and the cheddar cheese flavor. I eat the 100 cal packs of kettle corn. I get really hungry for salty snacks, as you can tell. :D I've been on Weight Watchers too, for the past couple of months. I lost 35 lbs on WW about 5 years ago, then I gained back about 20 after my husband got sick and I just didn't handle the stress very well. I've lost 16 lbs this time and have about 6 to go. |
How about high fiber cereal or plain yogurt mixed with fruit? |
Dark chocolate is good for those w/ a sweet tooth - it is better for you than milk chocolate and it has been proven to help w/ headaches, etc. I heard that beans (just about any kind - canned or dried) are good for you - use in place of meats. Whole wheat/whole grains - pasta, breads, etc. |
Trail mix Nuts (no macadamia) - only enough to fit the palm of your hand. Dried fruit - peaches, apricots, cranberries, etc. Beef Jerky - hopefully you have a food dehydrator as the ones at the stores are full of salt. Granola/breakfast bars - Not all. I would stick w/ the Special K brand ones. Protein bars |
tomatoe juice or carrot juice can actually fill you up a lil if you just want a snack, and they are healthy. I'm a sucker for celery. Also, I will cut up carrots in long thin slices and soak them in lemmon juice.. mmmm yummmmmyyyyy   fuji apples.... best apples around!! |

Juicing Is Great Do you have a blender? We got a Vita Mix Blender this fall at Costco as I am really into juicing and nutrition. It is really a healthy way of getting lots of nutrition that other wise one could never consume in sitting down and eating at one time. I do many veggies too. Besides being nutritional it all tastes soooooo good. I picked up the 6 lb. frozen bag of mixed fruit one of which includes all these fruits,Mango, Papaya, Strawberries, Pineapple. Also got the 4 lb bag of mixed berries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Marionberries. which are great antioxidants. I was happy to find these there so we can enjoy a variety. I will take some of the above and also add one or more of a banana, apple, orange, or grapes if I have it on hand a bit of lemon and when our grand son isn't here toss in some walnuts, pecans, or almonds ( Tim is allergic to nuts) toss in some ice cubes, YUMMY. I prefer to buy the frozen products and add to the fresh rather than adding canned to the fresh fruits I have done juicing for years and have seen how I benefited from it and with my husband having Parkinsons (he wasn't eating enough) so I decided to get the Vita Mix Blender for the high quality of its performance and it sits on our counter all the time ready for use which is everyday. If you have any kind of blender you will find all this so tasty. Amazingly, I don't even have the want for coffee and cut way back on soft drinks to almost nil, I didn't need to loose weight but have lost ten pounds, which I contribute to doing the juicing. I also do lots of veggies. Sorry for the long post but couldn't help but share our experience of the enjoyment and benefit of doing this. Patti and Jack |
