How do you get cigeratte smell out of fabrics? I have several things that have strong cigeratte smell to them - I don't smoke and no one smokes in our house - just some stuff I bought - and I need to get the smells out? What is the best way to get the smell out? Febreeze? Some I can use, but it will need to be cold water - I didn't know if that would be of help or not? |
try diluting vinegar in water... I have heard that this works and my aunt swayers by vinegar to get rid of smells... d |
Do you then use it for a wash or what? I do have white vinegar - should I put some in the cold water wash? |
If it can't be washed, try using fabreeze (spelling?) |
Dry Cleaners? |

Personally, I can't stand the way Febreeze smells and I don't think it takes away the smell of smoke anyway. I would machine wash in cold water with detergent and air dry unless it is dry clean only - then I would dry clean. |
I would highly recommend Dryel! Works in like a charm on cigarette odor, those winter sweaters that you've packed away during the summer, etc. http://dryel.com/starterkit/index.html |
I had some fabric in a bin in storage and if was in the house when we use to smoke,it reeked of cigarette smoke.I saturated it with febreeze and laid it all out to air dry and it worked great! |

My husband smokes a lot, and I use Tide w/ Fabreeze (sp?) to was his clothes. It works like a charm. |
My sister-in-law used to smoke and every time we visited, we came home smelling like cigarettes. I just hung the things outside to air out and they were fine the next day. I think washing them in cold water with your normal detergent and softener will work too, if the things are washable. |
yukky stinkey smell Wash in the machine works with Tide with bleach or any other washing machine detergent, then I use downy, if it doesn't go in the washing machine, air drying it is best unless it is leather, ooust works better with cig smoke then febreeze does. Leather only gets to smell clean with the dry cleaner. I smoke, I know, I smell!! |
