sleep suggestions? well it is day 8 of little to no sleep.. we are on vacation.. so of course.. i'm not in my own bed... which has never been a problem.... i can't believe i am still functioning... i have little problem falling asleep.. but i wake up 4-5 times during the night wide awake... anyone had suggestions?? i'm about to have a nice cup of herbal tea and then i'm going to go in bed and read... last night i was up at 4. .. so wake i turned the tv on for 2 hours  im at my wits end... i'm sure it is the bed because i wake up with very sore shoulders and hips... but since getting layla in may... i've had the worst sleeps of my life... anyone have tried and tested suggestions?? willing to try anything! |
I'd love to hear some suggestions also. I literally can't remember the last time I fell asleep and stayed asleep until morning (it's been YEARS)!! I believe it's menopausal for me - but I could still use some suggestions even though I've tried lots of stuff already... |

I have always been a bad sleeper but I take something at night to help me and I was sleeping really good for years, Lately, I am up every couple of hours and it crossed my mind that Cali who sleeps with, has been very restless since the colder weather, moving from by my head to by my side to the headboard( I have a wall unit headboard with a little space that she sleeps in) and I think I am being woken up by her movements. My Pom sleeps under the bed so she never bothered my sleep. I am going to have Cali sleep with my dtr one night and see if it helps. I hope you sleep better when your home again. |
well i have gravol which i take sometimes (although i think one dones't work anymore. might have to up it to two) but i'm nervous that i won't hear layla if she gets up and i'm SO worried that if i get dependant on them. |

Well...........I also used to have a problem sleeping. But I have some suggestions I have heard and read in the past. I heard that there should be no mirrors in your bedroom , or near your bed atleast because for some reason they don't make you sleepy. I also read somewhere to have nothing else on you bed and to spray your pillow, sheets with a nice, soothing scent such as lavender or jasmin flowers, something you like. Also your walls should be plain as it's easier to sleep b/c there's no distractions. Another really good tip I heard, if you really can't sleep and have too much on your mind...before you go to sleep take a few minutes and jot down everything that's on your mind to clear it such as things you have to do the next day, bills you have to pay or whatever. And one that helps me fall asleep is tell a story over in your head in detail, whether you're trying to remember an event that happened or you're making up a story in your head, remember details because that makes you sleepy. That mostly works for me. I have more but hope some of those work. :) |

IF I had insurance I'd just take sleeping pills - but at 80$ per month I think NOT :D |
The only problem with taking meds to make you sleep is you still feel "out of it" the next day...I have a prescription for Xanax that I got to help with panic and anxiety attacks...I hardly ever use it because it is very addicting but, it does make you sleepy and you do get the "out of it" feeling the next day....try meditating....this always helps me to relax. |
I usually just wait until I pass out from lack of sleep, then I crash for about a day and I'm good as new. I hate going to bed, becuase my brain won't shut down. If I turn the TV off it's worse, if I leave it on I'm sucked into what's on and it's 2am before I know it. 6am comes really fast after that. :( Let me know if you find any tricks. |

Natural choices for me. These all are just my opinion and not intended to advice others but to share what I do. Has anyone else gotten into juicing. I would be interested in hearing from others that have. I found it VERY IMPORTANT to RESEARCH BEFORE I STARTED JUICING cause I learned some are over taxing on the liver, and other body functions. Getting educated on it was important before I started and I also learned in some cases it isn't good for some people. These are four of the combinations I do in juicing to help me for sleeping. 1/2 apple 4 stalks celery 1 carrots 2 stalk celery 1 carrots 2 (1 inch) rounds pineapple 2 stalks celery 1/2 cantaloupe 2 stalk celery I will share one experience in my life that got me started in learning more about helping myself through juicing. I learned through a bad throat experience that Fresh Pineapple Juice Diluted is great (contains Bromelain) Years ago while eating out in a mexican restaurant, I choked on a tortilla chip and could feel something stick in my throat, after trip after trip to Dr.s and even a trip to UCLA and seen top throat specialist :( how dreadful that was not being able to hardly talk without crying, so painful and then not getting help from the medical profession, everytime I told a Dr. what happened they just looked at me like oh yeah :( I turned to researching on juicing :( thanks to my researching :) I read about FRESH pineapple juice DILUTED so in desperation I started juicing it ( I soon learnd the hard way that it had to be diluted.) After a period of time, Lo and behold one day I was driving home from town and started coughing and yeppers out popped the small tortilla chip, I pulled off the road and it looked like a soaked corn flake but by the time I got home it was a small hard triangle, first thing I did was call Jack at work and said, "Thank the Lord, I just coughed that chip out," :happyboun Oh, one happy gal was I :happyboun . I have found that with knowledge juicing has been beneficial to me and in some things for Jack, however I am not on any meds and am very careful with him cause he is. It is a lot for me to understand in the nutritional part of juicing of different foods and being knowledgable and careful at the same time on what I do juice and how it affects the different body functions so that I don't cause a problem for myself . Some things I stay away from due to my own health issues, I know which not to do. All that I do in juicing for myself is within moderation, not over doing it. Whoops, sorry for the long post here. Hi, So sorry to hear of your plight, you might want to try a Herb called Melatonin, it is completely natural and non addictive.I take 6mgs ( 2 -3mg tabs) to aid my sleep as I work permanent night shift as the nurse in charge at a Forensic Psychiatric jail and some times have trouble with sleep.Beleive it or not my son's Pediatrician recommended it to me for him as he has Autism and ADD so he has trouble sleeping. The only draw back as it lasts about 4-5 hrs but if you are a light sleeper you might try soft sponge earplugs and as my sweet heart husband calls it a ZORRO Mask....LOL I use them to block out kids, dogs, TV and light, works for me. I hope this gives you some options oh yes no stimulants before bed ie: coffee, caffienated pops, highly stimulating TV or eating. Going for a walk and having some herbal Chamamille tea or Green/Jasmine tea can relax you also. Let us know how things go ! Rosie's Mum |
