Calling all Cooks Does ayone out there have a Kitchen Aid Mixer and which one? There are like all these different ones to choose from and they range in price. Do you think it was worth the investment? |
how much baking or cooking will you be doing with it?? If you cook a lot and will use it often... then it would be worth getting one a little more $$... (remember, you get what you pay for) if you wont really be using it.. then it wont make scents to get a $$ one. |
I have the Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer and I LOVE it. I do cook and bake a lot, though. Since starting my dog treat business, I wish that I bought the professional one (because it has a larger bowl and more power) but the artisan has served me well thus far. I have a lot of the attachments to go with it.   Having said that, they are a bit pricey so if you are not going to use it a lot you might want to consider buying one cheaper. I used a bunch of coupons when I purchased mine so it wasn't too expensive. Ebay may also some that are cheaper |
I love love love my Kitchen aid mixer. I have the professional 5 and I use it all the time. My advice to you is get the best one you can get for your money. You will use it all the time |
I have the Kitchen Aid Professional 6 quart. The advantages of the 6 quart are you can make a double batch of cookies or pizza dough with ease. I love mine and think it is worth it to spend more up front for the extra size and features. I didn't do this with my food processor and regret it. |
I have the Kitchen Aid Artisan Pink (I love pink). Hubby bought it for me a couple of years ago for Christmas. It has been great. It does such a good job. I don't do alot of baking but use it when there's any mixing to do. |
I bought a huge reconditioned Epicurean Kitchen Aid mixer off Ebay for a steal, it looks brand new. Got it originally to do my daughter's wedding cake 3 years ago and have used it maybe 5 or 6 times since. Do a search for reconditioned ones and see what pops up.;) |
I have a Kitchen Aid Proline Mixer. It is the heavy duty slate gray model. I have had it for 15 years, use it almost daily, and love it! My kitchen wouldn't be complete without it. If anyone reading this thread has a grinder attachment that they aren't using and would like to trade (maybe for some yorkie clothes) or sell, please let me know. Mine has a crack in the grinder body after 15 years of hard use. PLEAASE..... |
I just got a Kitchenaid Mixer for Christmas! It's the chrome one and think it's a 5 quart size. I cook and bake whenever I can so it should come in very handy. I've been wanting one for a few years so I'm excited to use it. |
Thanks I love to cook, Bake and have friends and family over. Thanks for the advice. I really wanted one just was unsure of which one to get. I like the idea of being able to also get the attachements for making ice cream and pasta! |

I have the one where the top tilts up. I use it for baking and I do like it. The problem that I have is that when I add flour or powdered sugar, the opening to the bowl is not big enough and then when you turn it back on it throws flour EVERYWHERE. So, if I were to do it again I would get the more expensive model that LIFTS the bowl up and down. I think that would be easier to add ingredients to. Still, I'm thrilled just to have one. It's great for making pound cake and cookies and whipped cream, I just have to clean up all the flour when I'm done!! |

Erin, I have the ProLine model that has the head that lifts up and down. You have to be careful about adding flour and turning it on -- or you will have a white flour cloud..... I have learned the hard way after cleaning up many messes on my hardwood kitchen floors to add a little flour at a time :) |

How much baking and use will you be getting from it? Is it something you plan to use a lot? I have one and it is the large one but I don't use it near as much as I thought I would, The one thing I won't be without and absolutely love is my Kitchen Aid 11 cup Ultra Power and ( Professional model KFPM650 ) Food Processor , it gets endless use, if I had to only have the use of two electrical helpers :) in my kichen it would be this and the new Vita Mix that we just got this past summer, I use our Vita Mixer every day and don't think I could do without it. I know that Jack is getting all the nutrition by use of the Vita Mix daily that he wasn't getting before, and consuming more much needed veggies and fruits. Good luck on your choice Kichen Aid is a fine product to me. Patti |
