advice. Wife wants a kitten.I'm unsure. I'm on ship overseas. so If I don't reply real fast, don't think anything of it. We've got Bella my yorkie she's the love of my life. {don't tell my wife} and is horribley spoiled. more clothes than me and about two dozen beds and still sleeps in ours. my wife wants a kitten some stray I quess. I'm worried it might hurt Bella? I've had her since I was young. LOL Old guy that I am. She's my first dog. Do you think she'll be okay? if we get all the shots and such for the kitten, cat stuff doesn't like spread? can't call my vet and the guys on ship are kind of cluess. other questions, wife wants to know can you dress a cat like a yorkie? I quess she means like clothes and such. {told her point blank Bella's stays Bellas} can she buy whatever she wants for it. I mean would a cat handle being dresses? it took my forever to get Bella to allow me to dress her. Mike |

Well, Mike...if you get a kitten, I'm sure it will be fine versus an older cat (unless cat was raised around dogs). NOW, question is...what will Bella think of the cat/kitten? Has she been around cats before? Secondly, cats are so much more independant than dogs. I do NOT think you'll find one that does like clothes or being dressed. I'm sure they are out there but most cats will fight it...which means scratches and bite marks for you or your wife. Then, you have the issue of the litter box. You're going to have to keep it up high since most dogs like those kitty-crunchies that are left behind...YUCK!!! I'm sure you two will make the right decision for your family. I once use to be a cat-only-lover...now, I'm a yorkie lover 100% and can leave the kitties out. |
The cat and the dog will worki it out. Bella might get scratched once but after that she'll learn to keep her distance. Once they get acquainted they should play together very nicely. |
Me I've offered to get her a yorkie puppy. but she doesn't want to wait til I get home to help. I'm here til Feb for my understanding. and I'm not really sure if she doesn't think a puppy might be too much for Bella. and a kitten you can leave at home while you go out unlike Bella who is a stow away,on shopping trips. Anyway I'm glad to hear not likely anything that's going to hurt her. Well Bella vists my wife's parents cats. and gets along fine. I know but the kitty stuff from the poo box. trust me I know Bella likes that. ugh. my wife doesn't speak english well,so I wanted her to wait til I came home before she looked for a puppy or kitten. as well sometimes. translations aren't always the best. trust me I speak english and people pull stuff past me still. LOL Mike |
Let's not forget to add that if this kitten is a male then you will also have to deal with the cat spraying when it get's older and let me tell you that is the worst smell in the world!Even nutering them dose not prevent it. |
I think she's thinking girl cat. so whew but I'm still pushing for toy dog like Bella. from what I've seen of cats. Bella's going to get swatted. Mike |

I have 4 cats and one Yorkie. The yorkie loves to chase the cats. To her, they are toys that move on their own. They rapidly became the best of friends. I doubt a little kitten would be too bothered by the Yorkie, not knowing any different most likely. I would say go for it, but the two should be supervised until the show that they get along. If the kitten is scared, he/she will hide someplace that the Yorkie cannot reach. All in good time.... |

We had the cats first then we got grayson, he has got swatted alot but my cats are de-clawed so I know he isn't getting hurt. Your Bella will prob. keep her distance my cats did with grayson it took a good month for them to warm up to him and still they don't like him much just tolerate him at best Good luck! |
Hi Mike! I had a cat once. I loved Magnum (the cat) but I will not get another cat. The litter box is a mess and no matter what anyone tells you it smells! The other thing is the shedding. I grew up with non-shedding dogs (Poodles, Bouvier & now Yorkies) and I can't stand the shedded hair. There is just no way to clean it all up. It's on your clothe, bed, sofa, car, etc. It's been 8 years since Magnum died and I still find his hair once in a while. I know some people don't mind the shedding and love cats so if I rubbed you the wrong way, I'm sorry. I surely didn't intend my post to offend anyone. |
2 Attachment(s) I have both dogs and a cat. If you would like to get a cat either male or female my best recommendation is to research Ragdoll kittens. It is the best choice I ever made. I have a female ragdoll named Sophia "see pic below" and she's the sweetest, most well mannered cat ever imaginable. She gets along lovely with children, dogs, and people in general. Her name says it all you can hold her like a ragdoll, she's adorable and lovable. The breeder I received her from had approximately 15 cats both adults and kittens. We went to visit Sophia when she was kitten before she was allowed to go home with us. The male and female cats were so well mannered, friendly and docile I was amazed how they would just come up to me and sit next to me. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. :) |
Thank God for Mastercard. LOL wife wrote me back, she was looking at the tiny kittens our local petstore has early this week. seems they won't be ready for a home for another week or so. so she's was thinking it over. Mentioned the stinky box, kinda of changed her mind. But I got her to consider a chihuahua puppy. I know Bella will love to have another dog in the house. and with a quick $200. swipe of my MC. {well online purchase I got her a toy chi with a necklace and a card saying when I come home,we will go puppy shopping} Man I'm quick on my feet. LOL I know she's lonely. so am I. and I've been wanting another dog badly anywhoo. Ya I spoil my Ladies. but a guys got to make up for the time away. and they put up with me. Mike now to listen to the guys in my shop make fun of me some more. {the AT crew here says Hi to ya'll |

You are a smart guy Mike. A shiny puppy and shiny jewelry. What could be better? A great choice! My daughter had a cat and our two Yorkies at time would constantly chase the poor cat and of course eat the cat nuggets. It was a chore to keep them out of the cat box. Thanks for your service! |
