Some PEOPLE!!!!!!!! If ya'll could see me you would SEE the smoke coming outta my ears!! (maybe you can smell it). About 5 am today the dogs start carrying on and going nuts. We heard a car at the bottom of the drive, So hubby and I get up and look out and there is a huge wolf looking dog outside. We didn't think anything of it because there are lots of coyotes where we live. We figured we would be picking up the trash because it had knocked over our cans and that was all. We thought maybe it had been in the road and the car had slowed down to not hit it. WELL when I got up and went outside the dog (what we thought was a coyote) is still here...AND SHE HAS A PUPPY!!!!!!  SOMEONE dropped them off TWO DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS! I am so freaking mad it isn't funny! We caught the mama and penned her up with her pup. My husband said maybe she just got away from her owners and I am jumping the gun on her having been dropped off, but I don't think so. She has a collar, and she was dragging a chain, but she is sooo skinny and she was digging in everything she could looking for food. The pup is nice and fat and looks healthy, and mom doesn't seem to be nursing anymore. So I took some food for them and my husband went out to ask our few neighbors if they belong to any of them If someone DID drop these two off they better hope I don't find them because I will be slapping them up oneside and down the other! |
How sad! But I'm with your hubby. I don't think these were dropped off. Surely if so, they would have taken off the collar and chain. I think momma broke the chain and got out with her baby. At least she found you...I know you'll take care of her until you can find other arrangements for them.;) |
if she has a collar and chain she most lilkely escaped buit if she's in poor shape skinny they obviuosly didn't care enough to feed her i would not give her back! |

If given the chance, most dogs will leave. Chances are, she's been on the road for a while...pup will be fat because of nursing off of mom. Yes, even baggy teats can still produce milk. Pups are "selfish" and feed whenever given the chance. It's the moms that need to really be taken care of.:( |
Well, the chain is brand new so my dh thinks it was recently bought. It isn't broken. It was completely intact. I fed them and they are snuggled up together. We are hoping we are mistaken and that there are some loving owners out there really missing their furbaby right now. I really have no where to keep her and Ernie won't let a dog her size in my house. |
That's so pathetic...I mean how freaking hard would it be to find someone willing to give it a home or at least willing to help you find it one. EVen better, how hard is it to just not even get a dog in the first place if you're not going ot take care of it!?!?! |
oh how sad is that. What kind of person could drop a dog off in a strange place and never know or care what happens to them. The really sad thing is that this happens so much. Another reason to tighten the SPAY NEUTER LAWS |
Well, our local humane society is coming to get Mama and Pup today. Mama is going to be spayed. We called ALL of our neighbors and they said she doesn't belong to any of them. We might, and that is a big might, keep the pup and the humane society said they will help us with his neutering costs if we do keep him. We already kept a pup that showed up here a few weeks ago (another drop off) and she had a sibling. We found a home for her sister and we kept her. Been calling her Gidget...not sure what kind she is. They said they will help us with spaying costs on her too. Anyway, the only part that has me upset is the fact that they lady said she only takes in the cats and the dogs go to our local Dog pound and it ISN"T a no kill shelter. So we may be talking with her about fostering these two until permanent homes are found. I do not want them going to a shelter that isn't a no kill shelter...I am going to talk with the lady about getting Mama spayed and looking for someone willing to adopt her. They are going to be here around 10 am. |
Oh please don't put her in a kill shelter. She deserves a good loving home. You are such a good person for taking care of them. I hope she finds a home fast! |
This is horrible! I do not understand why people just "dump" an animal like that. Do they have no compassion??? I don't know how they could be so cruel and look into those loving and fearful eyes! That is sad! I hope there is a happy ending for them both! |
Well they didn't go to the shelter. Their owners showed up a couple hours after the humane society picked them up and they called the lady and got the dog and her puppy back. I guess (according to them) that she had broke the lead she was on and got away. They live about a half a mile from us. My husband and I are both upset because we want to know why it took them two days to notice that she was missing. |
