When I was pregnant almost 30 years ago bbq sandwhich and chocolate milk went down really well..for a while at least.:) Wish I could be of more help hun, I was sick the whole time. |
Tonight for dinner I made a porkchop casserole. Very easy and quite tasty. A meal for two: Brown 2 porkchops and set aside Slice 2 potatoes in a casserole dish, cover with some sliced onions and mushrooms. Over this put dallops of cream of mushroom soup and then add the porkchops. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour..... YUMMY |
When my girlfriend was pregnant all she could stomach was mashed potatoes, and boy did she eat a whole lot of mashed potatoes! I have a really good recipe for some yummy garlic mashed potatoes if you'd like to hear it... 1 whole head of garlic 1 tsp olive oil 6-8 large potatoes, cut into smaller pieces (you can leave skin on if you want, depends on type of potato or your preference) 1 cube of chicken bouillon or 1 cup of chicken stock Salt & pepper 1. Cut just the top 1/2 inch off the garlic head so that the cloves are just barely exposed. Drizzle with olive oil and wrap in tin foil. Bake at 375 degree oven for 45 minutes, or until garlic is soft. 2. Meanwhile, cut/peel your potatoes, put in a large saucepan with stock, fill with water until potatoes are just barely covered. Bring to a boil and boil 20 minutes in the chicken stock. 3. Drain the potatoes, but reserve 1 cup of the stock. Remove the garlic from the clove sheaths with a fork, throw them into the potatoes, add salt and pepper to taste, and add stock back into the potatoes as you mash as required to get the proper consistency. (I like to use a handheld mixer instead of a potato masher). Ta-Dah! Yummy yummy garlic mashed potatoes with absolutely no butter added (that's not to say you can't drown it in butter once it's on your plate though! LOL). They come out a lovely golden color and are not over-powering on the garlic flavor belive it or not. When you roast the garlic it gets very mellow. I promise your family will beg you to make these all the time. ;) |
My favorite mashed potatoes are with gouda cheese. Make mashed potatoes as usual, adding the salt, pepper, butter and milk or cream. Then add about 1/2 - 1 pound of shredded Gouda cheese (depending on how much you are making). Stir til it melts, might have to put it back on the burner for a little bit if the potatoes have cooled too much. This is best using the red skin potatoes. I could eat these every day! I like to make a lot of soups in the winter. Chicken Corn Chowder, Chili, Vegetable beef, and Ham and Ben soup are our favorites. If any of those hit the spot, just ask and I will think of the recipe. But I am a "throw it in" cook so not always sure of measurements. |
My boyf likes mash potato with a bit of mustard mixed through? |
