Beautiful picture but are you sure it isn't digitally enhanced? That looks like a wolf to me and they're too large even for an eagle to pick up. |

I think it's a wolf cub. A fox has a bushy tail and a longer nose. Eagles have a wing span of 6 feet they are huge. But it does look like it is having trouble gaining altitude. |
I will NEVER go camping in Montana if the birds are that big - (not that I plan to cause I don't camp) :D that's not a bird - it's a freaking 747 - are you sure that picture is real ?? |
It is a fox - I am pretty sure...when you look close you can see the black markings on the nose and feet and look at the white tip on the tail. The ears are much shorter than a wolf...and yes, a large eagle could do that to a fox! Survival of the fittest at its best! |
Oh my gosh...I have just been staring at that picture! I do think it's a fox...I think a wolf would be much too big for an eagle to try to take. Also, the white at the end of the tail is a fox trait. It gives me the creeps seeing that and thinking of our yorkies being vulnerable to them! I've seen those type eagles an hour south of here. I'm right next door to Montana. Truly amazing photo...but I sure hope the little fox is still alive and well! |
OMG! is all i can say... Eagle's are that big?????????? Imagine how easy it is for them to pick up a yorkie.....yt owners hold on to your yorkies! |
Oh my gosh that scared me and I live here!!!! Guess I'll stay in for today. Ok, maybe not. It looked like a fox to me too. In the field behind my house I have sean hawks, eagles, foxes, deer, and yes even a bear. So my yorkies are never unsupervised. |
I think someone has a good computer program. The bird's talons are both open - why would the fox/wolf have it's hind legs in the air? The eagle would have grabbed it by the back and once an eagle has ahold of it's prey, it doesn't let it go. And compare the size of the small bird to the fox/wolf. The fox/wolf has too long of a nose to be a baby so the proportions are all wrong. Also, the proportions of the fox/wolf to the eagle's body are all wrong. I'm the one you'll see swerving all over the road trying to miss wooly bears and frogs so there's no way I want to see any creature get hurt. Therefor, that's my theory on that picture and I'm sticking to it. :D But, no matter what, it is an awesome pic. |
Ah-ha, just noticed something else - the fox has a shadow, the small bird has a shadow, but where's the eagle's shadow? There, now I feel better. No creatures were harmed in the taking of that picture. :) |
