Absolutely HUMILIATED in front of thousands of people!
 
I am so embarrassed I can barely type! Well between my pride and my injury I'm a right mess!

I went to the RPI hockey game tonight (the college I teach at) b/c the class I teach had been offered the opportunity to build a device that shoots hockey pucks. The top 10 teams got to compete at the final game of the semester. Long story short I had 3 teams competing and went to show my support. Well the head of the Engineering department wanted help judging and asked me to help out at the end of the game. I said SURE! And so I begin to walk to where he is on the ice and sure enough I wiped out so hard I had blood soaking through my jeans! The paramedics arrived (one of them was my student), bandaged up my knee but OMG I am so embarrassed :( Thousands of people saw me do this and I held up the competition, not to mention one of the corporate guests I use in the classroom was there.

My knee is killing me and I can't stop LAUGHING at myself!

I am sorry you were embarressed but glad you can laugh at yourself. I am also glad you werent hurt worse. My Son used to play hockey and i have seen boys with concussions from taking falls on the ice and they had helmets on

Oh crap...I'm sure that did hurt!:( *Try* to look at it this way, I'm sure you are not the first person in the history of hockey to fall and get hurt on the ice...and I doubt you'll be the last.:p

Awwww thank you all so much! I think that's part of the reason I'm so humilitated, I have played hockey all my life so I should have been more cautious since they just re-iced but OMG I just want to crawl into a hole!

Oh my! Sorry you were hurt but proud of you for keeping a sense of humor about it all! Just think, you can wear your "hockey injury" as a badge of honor for a while. Maybe you could modify a hockey stick for a cane. And I would definately write the quote from dortego across your classroom blackboard! Hope the injury is not serious and you are back to chasing your little rascals soon!

OMG i hope you are alright ouchie sounds so painful!!! Well i am the super klutz i fall over and down everything i know how embarrassing it is but at least you weren't hurt really bad! If your students ask any questions just tell them you were thinking about applying for the clown college and wanted to try it out lol tell them the headmaster clown was in the audience and you had to make a good impression(your butt on the ice lol) well at least you can still laugh about it we are here for you lol P.S. I am so very sorry that you hit the ice. I know that hurts. I can only imagine how embarrasing it was.... How is your knee?

It is really hard to present oneself as a serious professional when you bust your bootie and are bleeding all over the ice. It takes a "big" person to be able to laugh at one's self. I hope your students appreciate you .... sounds like you go way above the call of duty. You need a TEACHING MEDAL OF HONOR for our fallen teachers (most especially for those who fall and get up to try again).

Bled through your jeans?!:eek: Yikes! That sounds painful- hope you feel better soon! I am always tripping, spilling something, breaking something- basically embarrassing myself however possible. I once saw a card that said something like; "You will do stupid things. Do them with flair." You definitely did it with flair!:p

well I know when one falls the first thing they do is to look around to see if anyone noticed. But you could have cracked your head. I'm sure no one is laughing at you.

OMG! I'm so sorry you got hurt! MAN, if you were bleeding, then it WAS bad.:( hehe! Don't be embarassed...it happened...but at least you can laugh about it.

Thank you everyone :) I am so sore today and bruised all over! I woke up to Simon licking my knee, I think he was giving me get well kisses. I'm trying to keep moving and work some of the stiffness out but WOW I'm aching.

Mandy, the paramedic was a former student of mine (haha).

I once tripped over a SPEED BUMP (genius that I am - yes it was painted BRIGHT YELLOW! LOL) going into a grocery store, fell on my face and sent my purse flying, dumping all contents (including tampons! :eek: ) all over the pavement in a 10 foot radius. Now THAT is embarrassing! :p

Hope your knee feels better soon!

i am soo sorry, i hope your knee and pride is getting better, kind had something similar happen to me on a smaller scale, Rosi , Poli and me where going to my G-daughters soccer game(outside) and we had to go down several flights of cement steps when Rosi and Poli spotted my daughter, they took off like rockets and fell down the steps scrapping my legs, felt like an idiot..... letting these little pull me down...laughing about it now :rolleyes:
