Cairn Terrier ANYBODY have one. This lady has an 8 month old for free.... |
My father in law had one. It was very cute but could be a little hyper. She did all kinds of tricks |
I wanted one a long time ago and the Vet I had then said that a lot of them have skin problems or are prone to them. I have no idea if this is true, but he talked me out of getting one. |
The Cairn Terrier is a spirited, hardy, restless little busybody - a big dog in a small dog's body. Alert, loyal, merry, lovable and mischievous. They are somewhat independent, but friendly. Females tend to be more independent than males and some breeders feel that males are more affectionate. They are very curious, fearless and bold. They are easily trained and like to do tricks. Naturally patient with children and very playful. Cairns adapt well to their new homes. They are sensitive, and need firm, but not harsh, training and discipline. Without attention and training, the Cairn can become destructive and/or bark excessively. Cairns like to dig searching for vermin, so it is not wise to leave them unsupervised in a landscaped yard! This breed can be a chaser and should not be left off its lead in an unsecured area. Never leave a Cairn tied out, as he may fight larger dogs to protect his turf, sometimes with tragic consequences. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/cairnterrier.htm |
what kind of skin problems? I have read up on them and cant find anything... |
oh and i just want to add a stranger(not sure if you know her) does not give a good dog away for Free for no reason |
same site Do not over feed the Cairn for it tends to gain weight easily. Treats should be limited, even though the dog may be almost irresistible when begging. Cairns tend to be allergic to fleas. |
hes 8 months old and his name is toto....:) hes the brown with black tips.. |

I had a Cairn growing up. Best dog ever! He started the terrier bug in me. I wanted a yorkie, parents got him not understanding me fully. He had no skin problems that I can recall. His daddy was a champion, so I called him "Champ", that's kinda funny now that I think about it :D They are very fiesty and outgoing. Great dogs with kids. Not a mean bone in his body. He would catch things "mid air". Great ratters. (we had a horse barn so I can vouch for that) I'd love to have another one someday. |
ive heard nothing but good things about that breed... |
I love the breed....The same day I got Timmy I seen a Cairn Terrier because that is what I was going to get...BUT Timmy stole my heart and there the love for Yorkies began. I still wouldn't mind getting one:D |

Limited...but i dont want to breed so that is ok...:) he really like s the kids and me and jeff. He seems a little timid with men but jeff will have him trustin ghim in no time. His bite is kinda off set so that is perobably why the first girl let him go and than this lady i got him from was really nice..i went to her house and seen her place but she just had so many dog breeds there.. I kinda freaked out..." Jeff siad yeah my wife gets on yorkie talk and talks about yorkies and other dogs and they are highly against puppy mills and boy she started explaining to herself about the dog houses and that they are warm and the dogs come inside and all that stuff...:D I think hes going to do really good here....Mason just wont leave him alone....hes trying to huimp him all the time!   I think I have a gay dog!  |
He is beautiful . My friend have a Cairn Terrier . |
Oh my gosh, Toto is such a cutie. :) Congratulations on giving him a good forever home.:congrats: Rudy :aimeeyork & his mom (Dawn) :animal-pa |
I've shown Cairn Terriers in conformation- I'd correct Mason each time he tried to hump the Cairn. Doesn't matter the reason he's doing it, he shouldn't be allowed to do it. And it most likely won't subside on it's own and even if it did, for the Cairn's sake, I'd make Mason stop. What's his name by the way? ;) And I'm sure the bite is probably in fact why the first person got rid of him. Sounds like he originated from a mill, then went to another and now he's w/ a wonderful family that he desperately needs and deserves! Congratulations on the new puppers! :D |

OH hes being corrected every time....i dont tolerate it at all.it really upsets me. His name is Toto..Hes a sweetie!:D :D yeah. she got rel informative of her intentions when she found out i hated puppymills and would do everything in my power to shut one down. :):D |
Congrats! He's a cutie!!!! |
Congrats on your new little one:) |
Congrats!! I know you are going to love him! Please keep in mind that Cairn's are a "scruffy" looking breed and they require "plucking" or "raking" of the hair to allow for new growth. They are far from silky in texture so the "scruffy" look is their look! :) |

Congrats on Toto I agree about the humping. They do that to show dominance. My golden did that to my lil girl when we firs got her a 2 yrs old. I had to let my daughter push her off and tell her no so she would get the idea that it was not ok. It worked after about a 3 day period. She is now a very well behaived dog:) Have Fun with TOTO Too Cute:D |
Congratulations! How exciting to have a new edition. I hope the humping stops soon :p |
