Please pray for my Grandma About a week ago I found at that my 82 year old Grandma has a re-occurance of cancer. She lives in Florida and we all have decided to come down here and spend some time with her. I took some time off of work so that I could stay a little longer into January to be with her. She had breast cancer a long time ago and went through treatments and did well but now her cancer has come back and it is liver cancer. Its been difficult for me to talk about this because its hard for me to even think about it. She has been my best friend since I was a little girl and its just hard for me to imagine my life without her. My Grandpa died a while back so she's been living alone. She's very fiesty and independent (not you're typical 82 year old! She still drives and wears 1 inch heels and BRIGHT red lipstick !:p ) I just got in today and ha d anice long talk with her and she told me she's not going to get any treatment this time. She feels that if its her time then she's ok with that. She's so strong and brave and has brought so much joy into other peoples lives...I just can't imagine not having her to talk to :( Please keep her in your thoughts and if you pray please keep her in your prayers. Please keep me in your prayers as well. That I will have the strength to keep smiling with her through all of this. |

May the memories of your grandma be as bright as her lipstick!;) She would like that. I lost both my grandmothers long ago. One liked windchimes and the other religion. They probably make beautiful music. Happy Holidays. |
I'm sorry:( Prayers going up right now:hands: She's lucky to have you, and vice versa:love: |
Sweety I'm so sorry. I will pray for her. I know how you feel, my grandmother is also very sick, just had surgery and I love her so much and don't know what I'd do w/o her. So I know it's hard. I will heep her in my prayers. |
:ghug: big hugs and prayers for Grandma and Joy |
I'm so sorry to hear this - I truly understand because my grandma was my best friend too. My mom and I lived with her when I was young and then I stayed with her every weekend and summer after my mom remarried. It was so hard when I lost her. Just enjoy every moment you have with her and let her know how much she means to you. She sounds like a very wise and wonderful woman. |
Thank you all so much, My mom and I haven't always had the best relationship...people say we are too much alike and that's why we don't get along so well! LOL But Grandma would always take me to do fun stuff and let me do things mom wouldn't :p I spent a lot of summers at her house and being back here brings back SO many memories! It was so hard when I lost Pop but I know she misses him so much and at her age I don't really know if treatment would do any good anyway so I guess its better for her not to be drugged up and feeling sick but rather feeling good and enjoying herself. We baked some cookies and Christmas bread yesterday just like when I was a little girl :) |
I'm so sorry to hear that she's ill. You should count yourself lucky that you will have so many fond memories of her, she'll always be in your heart. I never really knew either of my grandmas. You're forturnate to be able to call her your friend. My prayers are with you and your family. |
