I am sooo freakin mad...
 

I am just fuming.

My mom does some volunteer for different fundraisers (like cancer, Bone Merle(sp) heart, lung, and etc.) Well 2 days ago she tells me there is a woman (we'll call her Sandy) who works at one of the places that she volunteers at and Sandy's mother is in the hospital and the doctors told the family that she wasn't coming home. Sandy proceeds to tell my mom that they have no money, no life insurance, nothing. The family doesn't have no choice but to donate her body to science, which wouldn't be bad but the mother really doesn't want that. She wants to be cremated and placed in an urn with her son. So I called around and my mom and I have decided to pay for this womans cremation. (about $875) We were trying to be nice and my mom called Sandy to tell her and this woman had the nerve to say "could you just give us the money instead, cuz without moms social security check we don't know how we are going to make it" . WTF is wrong with this family? I can not believe that they would give her body to science against her will when the money is being handed to them.

My mom is going to the hospital tonight to make arrangements WITH the dying mother to be cremated.
As for Sandy and her husband they will not see one dime from me. That is just plain greedy, and rude.:mad:

Anyway, if you read all this thanks for listening to me vent. I am just so freakin mad...

Could you imagion selling out your moms deceased body for $875? :eek:

thats so sad how can they be so greedy to the person who raised them?

What a great person you are to offer that and I don't blame you for being mad. Maybe they're so broke they aren't thinking straight ????

I can't believe this woman cares not about her mothers last wishes. To not honor them is just bad!

You and your mom care for her more than her own family!!

With Christmas coming I just wanted to do something nice. I have never even met any of these people. I just know that when my mom was telling me about it, I was just so grateful my parents have life insurance, and etc.
I just couldn't imagion being in a position that I had to donate my mothers body cuz there was know way what so ever to pay for a funneral or cremation.

uhh the nerve when my son passed away we were broke, but when people handed us money we took it to the funeral home and what was left after all the funeral etc was paid we paid our house payment but we never asked people for money and we never used what was meant for the funeral and things for ourselves, but some people are like that my aunts husband just passed away and all her life she was greedy and odd to say the least and when her husband passed no body wanted to give her money and they all would take it to the funeral home cause these people cry about the funeral or the cremation to make you feel sorry but they just want the money and pay the funeral later if at all

That was very kind of you to offer to do that. I have found that most people who tell their tales of woe are after a hand out. If one really needs help there are agencies that they can go to, and they probably have already tapped out every resource they can think of.

OMG I can't believe that! To actually ASK for money for themselves!!

I'm glad your not going to let her see any of the money. That money is for her mother, not for her!

That's terrible. How nice of you and your Mom. When a friend of our family committed suicide in April (age 54) she had no money and no family. My Mom was going to pay for her burial/cremation as she had helped her since she was a little girl, My Mom contacted Catholic Charities and they have special arrangements with cemeteries and they ended up cremating her for 250.00 instead of 1,000.00 and they provided a place to bury her ashes. Maybe some organization like that could help.
