You'll never guess who I met today Today was such a wonderful day... My sister graduated from NYU (New York University)... I'm such a proud big sister!! :D Anyway, we were online at Madison Square Garden and I was so tired so my dad was like let's go to Starbucks.. When we were in line, guess who walked right up next to me?? .................................................. ......................... ROBIN WILLIAMS!! You know Mrs. Doubtfire!! My dad began talking to him and then I asked him if he was speaking at the graduation and he was like, "No, I haven't spoken at a graduation in 20 years. My son is graduating".. It was really cool.. He then asked me about myself.. I told him I was a teacher and he's like where do you teach?/ He was so sweet... Very shy!! I guess thats why he is such a great comedian.. Anyway, sorry so long, just wanted to share my news!! |
No WAY!!!! That is SO cool!!!! And especially that he was so nice! I wonder what his son looks like - or what his personality is like, compared to his dad! LOL! Thanks for sharing. Now I know (of) a person who knows a famous person, haha! Oh, dear... |
WOW!!! How exciting!!! I love his movies especially Mrs. Doubtfire! That is so neat! I wonder if any other yorkietalkers have ever met any stars!?!?! If they have maybe they will post when they see yours! |
WOW thats so cool! I bet it was weird standing there chatting to him and knowing that you have seen him on a big screen :rollingey |
My sister met his son one time and said he was a complete dork.. Like i said, i had to hold back, my father on the other hand has NO problem talking to anyone... I wished I had my camera but i would have felt weird asking him for a picture... It was so funny cause just 2 weeks ago at the mall, some lady asked my dad for his autograph thinking that he was Robin Willaims (the fact is there is absolutely NO resemblence).. My dad said that and Robin was like, hey I see the resemblence!! A couple of years ago my mom was in the city and she ran into Harrison Ford (she loves him) she basically jumped out of the car to run over to him.. My sister has seen alot of famous people being in NY.. She met the Olsen twins (they go to NYU) |
That's awesome! For some reason, I think I'm the type of person that would just strike up a conversation (like you and your father) with a celebrity and wouldn't bombard them with questions about their movies or asks for autographs. I think they'd appreciate that much more. I guess I'm not the "star-struck" type person! I've never met a celebrity in my life! That's so awesome you saw Robin Williams. He seems like such a sweet man! Lucky youuu! |
1 Attachment(s) I LOVE Robin Williams! He's a true comedic genius!! My daughter has met Paul Walker (Fast and Furious) and Keira Knightly (Pirates of the Caribbean)because of her yorkie, Buddha!! They are celebrity magnets! Here's a picture of Buddha with Paul Walker. |

Well, I am really shy.. If my dad wasn't with me I probably would have just stood there like an a**.. I would feel weird talking to a celebarty!! |
Robin Williams is such a nice guy. I actully met him about 10 years ago in Disneyland, He was very nice and somewhere I even have a picture. It was funny becasue everyone else was told to put away their cameras except us, becasue they didnt want their family day to end up in the tabloids. But he was very nice. I think that is cool, I would love to meet more famous people, but I live in Idaho, no one comes here...lol |
1 Attachment(s) I've met a bunch of famous people. My most recent famous meeting was with Evanescence (attachment). I won backstage passes and GREAT seats for a sold-out concert. Other famous meets, courtesy of Disney: Justin Timberlake, John Travolta, Jesse James (from Pearl Harbor) (both JT's at work, Jesse James was when I guided a deaf and blind woman and her friends around for fun and we got to do a private ride of Tower of Terror) Famous meets not at Disney: Royal Crown Revue (my favorite swing band), Matthew McCaughnehey (spelling?), Bridget Hanley, They Might Be Giants... Other amusing meet story: Robbie Benson- I was watching the Candlelight Ceremony in Epcot on Christmas Eve when my parents called me to give me some bad news. I got up and left the show. I really wanted to cry, but I didn't know anywhere I could in peace...except backstage (behind the American Adventure). So I went backstage, sat on a short wall, and cried. The show ended, and all the performers went backstage. Someone sat next to me, and said "Are you okay?" I looked up, and there was Robbie Benson! I explained that my parents are back in Virginia, and I'm here, and they gave me some bad news. He felt bad that I wasn't with my family for Christmas, and invited me to come to dinner with his family. I politely declined, and explained that it's okay, I'm Jewish. But he told me that I HAD to walk through the parks with his family for a little while so I had some "family" for the evening. We went into a souvenier store, and I saw a shirt that had "MICKEY" in fingerspelling. I'm a deaf education major, so it really caught my eye. I asked him if he could please reach up to get me a shirt in the size I wanted (because I couldn't reach it  ) and when he got it, he said "No, you're not paying for it. This is my Hannukah present to you." So yeah, those are my famous people stories... |
That is cool. I've always heard he is really nice. I have never met anyone famous and probably would be too shy to talk to them too. My niece met Kelly Rippa in NYC, she is very nice also. Kim, I wish I had a picture of Paul Walker holding Gus. He is so cute. |
Ok, now I'm jealous. Mickeyisagyrl, I hate you. :p J/K I love Mathew McConaughey (even more because he is a little weird) John Travolta and Justin Timberlake!!! Aaahhh, you are so lucky. Mathew McConaughey is/was? driving around the country in a trailor promoting his movie and I thought that would be awesome to be driving and turn and see him. |
I remember Robin Williams in Mork and Mindy when I was younger - nanoo nanoo !!!! |
Congrats on meeting Robin Williams! Recently, I've only met baseball players. The other day Will Ferrell was at my school shooting a movie and I waved to him. They asked my friends and I if we watned to be extras. I wanted to get home to my Stewie :) I met Susan Olson (aka Cindy Brady) and almost died. That was my favorite show growing up. She was at my HS friend's graduation party. They're cousins. This one was the funniest: I was walking out of work adn there was this guy SPEEDING past my building wearing sun glasses and a huge sweatshirt. He looked like he was up to something. My boyfriend says "that looks a lot like..." and I yell "BEN STILLER!!!!!!!" The guy turns around, takes off his glasses and shakes my hand. He says "yep!" It was pretty sweet. |
I have met Jeff Gordon. I saw him at a race in Atlanta!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Sure wish I had a pic of me...I mean She-ra and Paul Walker :p |
