Could I use a heating pad outside? I have 2 cats outside that can go into the garage. Right now I have totes with a hole cut in them with blankets inside, and the tote is wrapped in blankets to keep the draft out. The totes are up off the floor. Could I put a heating pad out there and place it under the plastic tote and leave it on for warmth???? |
If it were me - I'd worry about a fire if you aren't there to keep an eye on things - those heating pads can be tempermental - I remember having an electric blanket as a kid back east and work up one morning to burn marks all over it  Do they make the kind that shut off automatically when they get overheated ?? |

Good question...do they shut off ones? |
I have heard of the kind that you use in the car, I would go to a pet store and ask them. |
Or does anyone else have any ideas to add warmth??? |
I think they have bed warmers for dogs that are thermostatically controlled..maybe google thermostatically controlled heating pads and see what comes up..are these your cats / |
If you don't mind the hassle of microwaving it every day, you could get the Snuggle Safe. It's a disc that you put in the microwave and heat for about 5 minutes, it keeps heat for 10 hours. http://www.snugglesafe.co.uk/heatpad.htm I bought one at PetSmart but I haven't tried it yet. I'm thinking of sticking it in MY bed to warm my freezing toes on these cold nights! |
Thanks, I'll check those out! |
