endoscope procedure Has anyone had one? My daugher has to have one on the 13th and I just wanted some more information and to hear some experiences. I want to know what to expect so I don't freak her out and so I can help her. |
Is this where they inject dye to make sure everything in the female organs are flowing right? |
can you give me a brief discription of what it is? |
Is she getting the upper endoscopy? I had that checking for an ulcer. It was no problem -- they used that wonderful anesthesia that makes you forget what happened. I had no discomfort or anything. You have to swallow a long tube-like scope which I imagine would not be pleasant but I have no memory of it at all. |

don't get it if not totally necessary i had one. i gag very easily. i don't remember the procedure , but the sore throat seemed to last forever. i tore my esophagus using the ab roller. if they can diagnose without the procedure it probaly would be better. i think they want people to get it so they can make more money. only get it if necessary. |
endoscopic procedure I have been an endoscopy nurse for 13 years your dtr will do fine kids tend to take very little medication she will be on monitors throughout the test and in recovery usually 30-45 minutes the test itself only takes about 5-10 min. depending on what the md sees or why the test is being performed he may take biopsies, they are taked with a biopsy forcep that fits down an opening through the scope and a small snip of tissue is taken nothing serious and it doesnt hurt, before the test they will spray her throat with a numbing spray to numb her gag reflex this feeling only last about thirty minutes and she will be able to drink after that and then eat. Good luck I hope this test gives you answers it is very scary anytime your child has to have test but this is an easy on. |
