Well I tried Bare Escentuals mineral makeup And I HATE IT!!!! Sorry for those who like it but I really don't like it at all. They make it look so easy but it wasn't for me. First it didn't seem to have much coverage and while I was applying it I looked like I had just wrestled a cat. The brushes were shedding everywhere! Also it's so messy. I had powder all over my counter! I'm probably not using it correctly but I was doing the swirl, tap and buff they talk about. They claim it's fast to put on too. Well not for me. I wasted so much time this morning buffing my freaking face until it hurt with no results! I DO like the mineral veil though. My face isn't shiny and my pores look smaller. So I'm going back to Sephora tomorrow for my refund and just buy the mineral veil but there's no way I'm buying a Bare Essentials brush! I wanted to like it so much but I guess it's just not right for everyone. I'll stick with my Estee Lauder foundation. |
Really! Wow. I'm sorry!!! I do have to admit that it does take longer to put on. I usually do like three coats to get the coverage I want for freckles and whatever flaw I'm trying to cover :) You do have to be careful because it can be messy. I just do alittle at a time. I've been using it for 10+ years and I love it! I just got my refill bottle yesterday from QVC :) Well.....you tried it! Thats all you can do! Thanks for sharing !!!! |
I hate it too! I thought I was the only one:thumbup: |
I've had several friends try it and they all hated it, too. Too complicated they said. My favorite makeup is Laura Mercier. I have never had a problem with it and my face always looks flawless. I think I'll stick with my Laura makeup. Different strokes for different folks. |

Yes. I use Laura Mercier EVERYTHING! I have not found a single product of hers that I don't absolutely LOVE! It may cost a little more, but all of my products have literally lasted for YEARS! I love her foundation, and I really love their Foundation Primer. It makes your face so smooth so the foundation just glides on. And the Primer helps your foundation stay on all day...no running or smudging. I also love her Foundation Powder. It provides excellent coverage, but it is dry, not wet. But the Foundation Powder does come with a spunge so you have the option to wet the powder to get more coverage if you like. Like I said, I just love all Laura Mercier products.   |

Oh I LOVE the secret camoflauge. I use it under my eyes to cover the dark circles and I also use it on imperfections as a concealer. It is the perfect coverup. I also LOVE the EYE BASICS. It is like a concealer or a primer that I put on my eyelids before I apply my eyeshadow. Sometimes I even wear it by itself. It prevents your eyeshadow from creasing, it is waterproof, lasts all day. Some days I just use the Secret Camoflauge, Eye basics, mascera and foundation for a very "natural" look. Other products that I LOVE and use every single day: -Bronzing Powder -Loose Setting Powder (I have the Translucent color...I put it on on top of my foundation before I use bronzer or blush, or if I don't wear foundation one day, I put it on uder my pressed powder.) -Foundation Powder (I always use it dry...never tried it wet even though it can be used wet) -I love all her eyeshadows -LIP GLOSS! (her lipglosses seriously stay on ALL DAY LONG! and they keep my lips SO moisturized. I am a chapstick-addict, but when I put on the lipgloss, I don't have to use chapstick all day) -Blush |

I'm sold! I was just looking at the stick gloss! That looks great. Is that the one you use? She has like 4 lip glosses. I can't wait to go shopping tomorrow! |
I must be SO behind the times and haven't spent much money on myself the last 2 years but have never even heard of Laura Mercier on the Bare Minerals I found putting on your Arbonne Vit C Cream really helps if you apply it before the powder - makes it set better but we all have different tastes and skin - I'm curious now to the products Rebecca - where do you buy them and if I'm ever in Ulta should I look there ??? I really need to get a few things as I've been using EL CHEAPO makeup (cept for the face cream....thanks to Carolyn and her Arbonne) and the bare minerals - thanks to Sherry Lynn :D |

Laura Mercier is very expensive but probably worth it. I don't have an Ulta near me but here's a link to Sephora where you can look at the products. http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_...l?brandId=5809 |

Here is her website: http://www.lauramercier.com/shop.php You can order stuff online OR go here to find a store near you that sells it. Department stores like Parisians have started carrying it, at least here in Alabama they have. I would be completely SHOCKED if there was not a store near you that carried it. I still use El Cheapo mascera and eyeliner and sometimes El Cheapo eyeshadow if I'm just lounging around. But I ALWAYS use Laura Mercier foundation primer, foundation, loose powder, pressed powder, bronzer, blush, gloss, secret camoflague, and eye basics. My face just looks so flawless when I do use Laura, that I just cannot justify NOT using it. You know? And like I said, it does cost a little more, but all the products last FOREVER! I have not bought new makeup in well over a year and a half.   |
If you just want to get some Laura products to "start" with, I would suggest getting: Foundation Primer Foundation Eye Basics Secret Camoflauge Foundation Powder Then, if you love those products, you can get other products she makes. I think the base or pallette of your face (before you put on the "color")definately needs to be something better than el cheapo. Afterall, YOU DESERVE IT! |
