Stretch marks? Who here thinks they're genetic? Do you have them and if so, did you do anything to try to avoid them? If so, what? |
Yes. They are genetic. It has to do with the elasticity of your skin...which, is genetic. |
If your mother got them, you are more likely to get them. |
I have always heard that stretch marks are highly genetic, kinda like cellulite. You can try to prevent them by putting Cocoa and Shea Butter all over your belly and sides and back. Do it everyday, as often as you can. I know people that have done this and don't have any stretch marks. |
I got them bad...must have the gene |
I have them, but I've had 6 kids the last two were twins. there is only so far your skin can stretch. LOL Staying well hydrated will also help. and as someone else said, the Cocoa butter. |
mom is 69 years old and has no stretch marks and thank god i dont have any either... lucky me.... i'd say its genetic... |
Whether they are genetic or not, if you take good care of your skin and try not to gain an excess amount of weight you can help avoid getting too many. Because 24 years ago lanolin was the best thing out there, that is what I used and I have almost NO stretch marks. Which my first child I went from 97 lbs. to 148 lbs ..... LOL I was a real porker by the time my 4.7 lb. child was born at 32 weeks. I would do some research about the safety but I wonder if Emu oil would be a good choice? |
I've had them from a teenager. My doctor told my mom that because of all the sports I did, the muscles in my legs and stuff grew faster then I did. :( My daughter does volleyball and tennis and she has him. Makes her sad. |
I believe that they are genetic mostly. But if during pregnancy you maintain a healthy weight and lots of cocoa butter creams on the belly it does help them alot! There are also creams you can use after you go back to normal weight that are helpful. And if they dont go away and you are bothered by them you can always laser them out. ;) |
I didn't get them with my 1st son but did on my lower stomach with my 2nd - lucky no one sees cause they're very faint and not too bad - I do think it IS genetic ....if someone is pregnant - watching your weight really helps - I have NONE on my legs or anywhere else - If you try to keep lotion on it MAY help - they have lots more products now than they did when I had my boys |
I got them on my 1st pregnancy on my upper thighs only. They are very faint now 36 years later. |
My mom has none, I am full of them  SHe has oily skin and barely gained any weight though, not me on the other hand... |
WELL... i had 7 kids and gained BIG TIME(around 60 pounds each time) with each one(then lost it) and didn't get ONE stretch mark. They what happens....2 years ago I gain weight by EATING and then lose a bit .... and now I have them...GO FIGURE:confused: |
I did not get them with my first two pregnancies at all, but with my 3rd and 4th pregnancies I did get some. |
