worst Thanksgiving diasters!!! Lets hear them!!! One we had was the time my Mom had a skunk spray under her house right under the dinning room...(She didn't have a basement cause it was a really old house! ) She was determinded to have dinner there AND WE DID...Can you save PHEW!!!! I also went into labor with my daughter on Thanksgiving right after we ate...I even helped clean up... the min I sat down my cork popped!!!!! I was glad though...I wanted her out! |
OOOoooooo I like this Thread! I know mine will be like cake walk compared to others that is sure to come but here it goes! I cooked my first turkey and didn't know the bag of neck and gizzards were in it. I washed it but didn't want to stick my hand in it so I rinsed and stuffed and cooked! Needless to say, the stuffing was unedible. :D Lesson learned! |

Ewwww! Skunky dinner! I guess you can get used to the smell.... au de turkey~skunk! You are the 2nd person I've known to go into labor after a Thanksgiving Dinner!!! I wonder if all the food you ate took up too much space and squeezed the baby out..! |

I set the oven on fire last Thanksgiving. All of my family stood there and watched, my Grand Daughter pulled up a chair to watch the drama (why no one took her out of the house, I will never know). Finally my DH ran in and through salt on it. Needless to say, I got a fire extinguisher for Christmas. |
hahahahahaha !!! I don't have one nearly as good - cept for the time I cooked for my grandma ....and she kept insisting on turning on the BROILER for the turkey - I was playing GUARD all night over that bird - She didn't think I knew what I was doing lol |
I havent had a worst one but the best one is when I had my Son on Thanksgiving |
I did the same thing. I cooked my first turkey and didn't know the bag of neck and gizzards were in it. I washed it but didn't want to stick my hand in it so I rinsed and stuffed and cooked! Needless to say, the stuffing was unedible. I laughed when I read this! Brought back memories of my very first thanksgiving dinner that I cooked. I never cooked anything in my life but being married at 18 I deceided I would do the cooking for my husband's family. I cleaned the bird and stuffed it the night before. We did that 46 yrs ago. Today it is a no no. Well anyhow my father-in-law did the carving of the bird and asked where the neck and giblets were. I had no idea what he was talking about. I said what? Needless to say the neck was in the neck of the bird, still in a bag and the rest were in the inside of the bird still in the bag. I did clean the bird but had no idea something was inside. My husband's Italian parents looked like they would faint! We ate the bird(minus the stuffing) but they never let me forget it. They were wonderful in-laws and that became the Thanksgiving story each and every year. |

Wow!! These stories are soo funny!!! haha. Mine's not so funny. The worst Thanksgiving disaster my family has ever had was in 2001...when I was 8. My Grandma died Thanksgiving morning...during the Macy's parade. We still had dinner and everything at my aunt's house..but it definetly wasn't your normal Thanksgiving dinner... |

my bday is the 28th and my sisters is the 25 we each get a turn to be a thanksgiving baby, i remeber one bday that i had a cake that looked like a turkey!! umm...that was boring to a 7 year old who loved strawberry short cake!!! everything was strawberry short cake bedding curtains the whole 9 yards...= ) i remember one year my mom was pulling out the turkey and had used an alumn foil pan for a huge turkey and at 5 am we heard a scream and came running down the stairs and by the time we got to my mom she had blisters on her arm that were as big as a 3.5lb yorkie =) poor thing i remeber her having tears in her eyes all day... |
Come on YT'ers "Gizzard Left In the Turkey", "Oven on Fire", "Going into Labor", and "Skunky Dinner" can't be all the stories! Fess up! |
