My son is going to propose!!! My youngest son is going to propose to his girlfriend at Christmas. Well that is if he can wait that long. He is 18 and she will turn 18 in April. We couldn't be happier as she is the sweetest thing and you can tell that they really love each other. She has no idea and actually thinks that she is getting a promise ring for Christmas. He took me the other day looking for the perfect ring on a poor persons budget. I think he has found one that he likes. He is trying to figure out the perfect way to propose. Just wanted to share. |
That is so exciting! Congratulations, that is wonderful. |
That's so sweet. This will be a Christmas they both remember. I fell in love at that age and am still married to him. 18 years together, 15 married(had to save up for the wedding and wait till my father received his income tax return). True love is the best! |
A Christmas proposal -- very romantic! So many ideas too -- ring in a stocking, as an ornament on the tree, atop a tiny tree, on an icicle, in a snowball......okay maybe the snowball one would not be such a good idea.... :) Maybe if it snows, he can write "Will you marry me?" in the snow. |
how exciting....its going to be a wonderful christmas for your family...congrats.... |
Christmas proposals are definitely very romantic, but practically speaking, if the ring is given in connection with a holiday, it automatically becomes a "gift". 18 is very young and if things doen't work out and the ring is given as a gift, she is under no obligation to return it. It is given just an an engagement, however, the ring must be returned. My son has a ring ready and waiting. He isn't sure when he is proposing yet, but he just moved to S. Carolina with his girlfriend!! They are both 23. I gave him the above advice that a wise attorney gave me and his words were "hmmm, very interesting". I know no one wants to think in terms of it not working, but rings certainly aren't cheap, even on a poor man's budget!! |
  Congrats to your son! |
Congratulations! This is very exciting news. |
This is soo sweet! Congratulations! |
oh my gosh!:yay_jump: how sweet! wow 18?! I could never imagine being married right now!! of course that could be because I've planned out my entire life and decided that I'll be married around 24 or 25 hahaha this is funny because i'm watching the friends episode of Monica and Chandlers wedding "I'M GETTING MARRIED TODAY!!!!! I'M GONNA START GETTING READY!!!" :congrats: |

That's true. My brother proposed to his gf, well ex now. She said yes and they were supposed to get married but things didn't work out. She turned out to be a totoal biatch and gold digger. I don't think she gave the ring back but my bro. was too nice i think to ask for it back. |
Wow! Congrats. It is very rare that people who marry young stay together but to the ones that do I look up to them. |
I should sell him my old ring... LOL I don't think either one of my girls want it. :p |
If every thing goes well, he may propose the weekend after Thanksgiving. We are all going out of town to visit one of my husbands brothers and she is going with us. We are staying at a motel that has an indoor pool and a hot tub. He has a horrible time keepinig a secret and should have her ring next weekend. They have actually looked at promise rings so she thinks she is getting one of those for Christmas. It would be a total surprise to her the weekend after Thanksgiving. They have talked about when they get married and what kind of wedding they want but she is clueless that he is going to propose this soon and that she will get a ring. As they had talked about maybe waiting until an anniversary for a diamond. It is so cute to watch him plan everything out. He is actually on a first name basis with the lady at the jewlry store. As he goes in there every couple of days and she actually told him to wait until next weekend to get the ring as they will be 10% off. |
Congrats :) |

Congratulations! I wish your son and his girlfriend a long and happy marriage! |

congrats* [: my boyfriend gave me a promisering & we currently live together. we'll get married eventually but just not right now [ i'm 20, he's 19 ] |
Near candlelight (or fire) He could blindfold her and have her open her hands and he could place it in them with a tiny ornament with the ring hanging on the rope that would connect it to the tree with a card that reads "insert emotional feelings...Will you marry me?" then he would take the blindfold off and be kneeling. |
That is so sweet!!! |
Well I took my son yesterday to buy the engagement ring for his girlfriend. They have to send it off to be sized. So while I was waiting I was looking at the other solitares that they had. I have always been partial to the marquise stone and wanted to see what one looked like with my diamond wrap. God it was so beautiful and on sale. Both of my boys were with me and said that it looked nice but that I knew I couldnt have a bigger diamond as the one I have is a 1/2 carat. When we got home I went in the kitchen to make supper while the boys stayed in the living room to talk to their dad. After supper both boys said they would be back later and when they got back they had my diamond for me. Of course now I have to take it back today so that they can send it off to be sized.:( It is so pretty but now I am feeling pretty guilty because I know exactly how much it cost even on sale. But I have the best hubby in the world and two pretty cool kids too. Once it is back from the jewlery store from being sized I will post pics. It is just a little over 3/4 carat. I am sure that many on here have one bigger but this is the biggest I have ever had. |
