Here is a video I have saved for probably 2 years.. "The Pit Bull Problem" http://gprime.net/flash.php/thepitbullproblem |
Pitbulls are a problem. |
Quote:
Couldn't have said it better myself. Great point about the racism! I like to use that analogy myself. So many people claim to be animal lovers, or dog lovers, but if your a dog lover wouldn't you understand that it's not always the animals fault? Also, more people are breeding pitbulls to be vicious dogs. Of course, when more pits are being trained this way, won't more end up like this? If all yorkie owners were training their yorkies to bite, then yorkies would be "the problem". It can happen to any breed, and for some reason the pitbull was chosen. Instead of banning pitbulls, I think the government should have laws regaurding screening people who want to purchase dogs. Maybe have proper training required, or things on the lines of that. So many dogs end up in the wrong hands, and they turn vicious or end up in shelters and on doggy death row. I think this should go along with stricter laws for breeding, there should be stricter laws for pet owners too. |
Pit bulls are really dangerous dogs. |

These dogs are one of the most vicious dog breeds ever recorded. They have killed children and even adults. |

The difference between pit bulls and toy dogs are much different. Pit bulls are bred to handle bulls. Their jaws are like a vice grips. One serious bite they can kill you or definitely a small child. They can rip a persons arm off with just a twist if they want. |
aawww i feel so bad, i love all dogs. I have met a pittbull that was verrrry nice, well she is. She's the biggest, cutest pip, she belongs to my mom's friend's son. They spoil her so much and she is sooo sweet. |

Yeah because they are ALOT stronger than yorkies. It's like asking who could kick your a** harder, a small child or a grown up weight lifter? Hmmm...let me think about this, this is a hard one ya know! So of course if a yorkie attacks someone, and a pitbull attacks someone, chances are the pitbull would do more damage because of the strength. Not just because the dog wants to do more damage. Yorkies were bred to KILL rats, not just handle them, but to KILL them. And some yorkies can be mean too. Any dog breed can have mean dogs. I know a lot of people who think smaller dogs are all mean nasty little dogs. Would you agree with them? Do you think it's fair that because a few small dogs are nippy that it's right to give every small dog a bad rap for it? In my life, I have met more mean small dogs then mean larger dogs, but I'm not going to be idiotic and naive about it and say "oh well I guess all small dogs are mean" And BTW, a pitbulls jaw is no different from any other canine jaw either. |

Rae Rae I am a complete animal lover. I dont have it out for pit bulls. I am sure there are some nice pitbulls. But the breed is recorded with the most killings and attacks of people in the history of the dog breeds. You are right too. Yorkies were originally bred to kill rats or any kind of rodent. .........But a rodent and a bull are two different animals. One outweighs the other by several hundred pounds. How many yorkies have you heard of mauling, or killing babies or adult people? |
Quote:
And like I already asked you, who would be able to kick someones a** more...a small childer, or an adult weight lifter? It's common sense as to why pitbulls can "do more damage". So I guess strong people are bad too then huh? Or people who own guns or any other weapon are bad because they can do more damage also? A mean dog is a mean dog, no matter what the size or how much damage they can physically do. I'm positive that if yorkies were the same size as pitbulls, the mean ones would do the same amount of damage. And if pitbulls were 15lb dogs then they probably wouldnt be able to kill a person. And of course, if a pitbull was bred to handle a bull, it has to be larger! a smaller dog (what were yorkies...30lbs originally?) would get stepped on! As for pitbulls having the most attacks in history..I don't know if I would believe that. As I research, I'm coming up with sites saying they are the most, then sites saying that they arent. Other sites are saying how it's the pitbulls turn or whatever. Before it was dobermains, now it's pitbulls. Who knows what will be the "fighting craze" 10yrs from now. And you have to keep in mind, you cannot trust everything you read in the media. Of course the news is going to focus on pitbull attacks more than anything else. There's such a controversy over these poor dogs, it's going to get more readers and watchers and listeners. Also the whole nation is starting to hate these dogs. I'm sure some of the pitbull haters are also in the news business and have control over what's going out there. Media lies through their teeth at every chance they get, and they'll write anything for a good story, no matter how immoral or untrue it is. |

 there are many reasons dogs attack i believe that if they are good trained dogs not mistreated neglected dogs there's a reason they just don't attack because they are a certain breed!! i looked up the breeder i have intrest in getting a pit baby from to my surpise the pups are $1000 upwards $3000! yeah hubby definatley says no now but i will have my blue pit...i willllllll. here's the webbie http://www.zulloukennels.com/ Quote:

Thanks for posting that. The video brought tears to my eyes. I have never owned a pit and don't think I ever will. They are not the right breed for me personally. I do believe that alot of a dogs behavior is in the way they are raised. Any dog can attack. |

And as I said in my earlier post, IF they have the most attacks recorded in history (IF!), most likely a number of them weren't actually pitbulls. Another thing, I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard it from my cousin: The name "pitbull" came from when the breed was first around. They used to take the dogs, dig huge holes (pits), put 2 in at a time, and bet on which one would die first. Similar to what they do today, no? Yes, this breed was born to kill. So was every other breed on the planet. |

Pitts are beautiful dogs - I feel so bad they get such a bad rap but the percentage of attacks in Houston are usually by a pitt. I blame the OWNERS but I would still be very worried if my girls were ever around a strange pitt - which is why they never will be. |

great posting megan !! please dont make my thread into a bad debate please be nice i think we can talk like adults i dont want the thread closed thats not why i posted it ! Austin has actually met a few pitbulls i dont treat them any different from any other large dog it has teeth it can bite doesnt mean its going to i always ask the owner first |
Bigger dogs have the bad reputation because peoples report them when they bite . Most peoples won't report if they are bitten by a small dog . The majority of the peoples just say its a small dog . |

As a tre teen I grew up with a american pit bull dog... he loved us and we loved him so much when I oldest brother went to pick them up his father was bring down a BULL... my brother had to stay in the car and the other pit bulls were on top of his car trying to go thru the windshield after him.... when he got home with the pup 6 weeks old (that's when you can sell them if they are o.k with vet's ok in Georgia) We had that pup from the age of 6 weeks you could hold him in your hand... Well as he grew he began MEAN he bite my grandmother my brother had to pull him off of her she had to go to the ER.If we all was outside with him and somebody pull up and got out before someone could put him up, they were going to be in trouble that dog would bite anybody that he didn't know.... When he was youger my mother rest her soul took him to the vet and they threw a muzzle at her and told her to put that on him before coming in, and this is when he was young... So ya'll can say it's the OWNER FAULT all you want to, It's HOW THEY ARE BREED!! Have you ever been to a pit fight? I have and I cried for days. They are beautiful dogs the one down the road from me is beautiful. This is a true story my dad pit bull name was SPIKE!!!! He died of old age. |
Ellen - that's a sad story about your pit. I'm sorry that happened. :( But, from the way you described the dogs on top of the car, it sounds to me like the breeder may not have been the best if that was their temperment. |
