Anyone know a way to cook french fries... w/o using a Fry Daddy-type thing? Fry Daddies and the like are SO messy and the whole gets everywhere. Also, I am also worried its going to flare up. Anyone know of any ways to cook french fries with little or no oil? |
bake them in the oven or put them in a pot on the stove but you will need oil in that pot |
I bake mine. Toss in some vegetable oil (if they are homemade otherwise they won't need it) and bake. There is a recipe on foodnetwork.com |
um, i didn't know there was another way to cook them at home other then throwing them in the oven. LOL |
I do mine in the oven. i don't like all that grease. |
Mine are homemade. How long should I bake them for? |
450 degrees, 30 min, turn 5 more min. |
Great, thanks :D |
I make my own. I cut the potatoes, rinse them and toss them in a little olive oil and salt. Also, at times with Lawry's seasoning and bake them! |
I make my own (sometimes). Cut potatoes in thin wedges, spritz them with canola oil and then sprinkle liberally with dry ranch dressing mix. Bake at 400 until crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Yummy! |
I just go to Wendy's and buy some :p oh and a Frosty to dip them in |
This recipe is from an Italian restaurant here in town. We have a very large Italian population here so there are LOTS of Italian restaurants. If you like fries, you'll LOVE these broasted potatoes. They're YUMMY and home made. Peel and dice 2lbs potatoes (or amount needed) I don't dice the potatoes evenly...just cut up the potatoe into 1.5"-2"chunks Soak the potatoes for about 3-4 hours in icy cold water, changing the water every hour to ensure it stays cold and clean. After 4 hours, DRY potatoes THOROUGHLY and put in bowl. Toss lightly with olive oil, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, ground parsley. (I usually just grab any spices I have on hand and use them :)) Spread out on cookie sheet in one layer. Cook at 400 degrees until browned. These usually don't need to be turned if you cook them on the top rack. They are delicious and go with any meal..I usually do them with bbqued chicken or steak. Great....now I'm hungry!!! :) (When we cook regular frozen fries, we do them in the oven and spray them from a spray bottle (from Dollar store) filled with veggie oil. This makes them crispy and good.) |
I bake them too...... But let's face it. NOTHING better then heating up a pot of oil and dunking them in to cook. OMG just out of the oil and loaded up with salt and ketchup...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm:p |
