Has anyone ever had........a mole removed? This morning (Halloween morning), I had to get up and be at my dermatologist office around 8ish - hard to do on this cold morning here. Anyway, I went in because I had a dry, itchy rash on my eye lids...I don't wear makeup, so didn't know what it was....anyway, he said it could be from allergies or the weather, etc. I have cream for it. Well I was there, I decided to have him check some moles and he found one that he said needed to be removed and tested! It was sort of between my toes but on the bottom of my foot, if that makes sense. He really scared me because he said that it would hurt to take it off there, since it is a really sensitive area.....BUT it didn't even hurt!!!! It is being sent of to be tested. Okay, it didn't hurt when I got it done, but today was a very busy day! It had bled through my bandages and sock before I got home and then again during the day.....THEN, trick-or-treating tonight....OUCH!!!! :( I am pretty tolerant to pain, but it is a throbbing hurt! AND the doctor said it would take about a week or two to fully heal up...there are no stitches, just an open hole! What a bad place for it!!! Has anyone every had a mole removed? If so, how long did it take to heal? I hope it doesn't take as long as the dr. said, but it might being in such a bad location! Just wanted how everyone else did after having one removed! I'm really not a baby  ..........just alittle sore after a busy day! |
I had a couple. I didnt get the whole thing removed (roots and all)..just the top frozen and shaved off to get biopsied. It sounds like that's what you had done. Mine didnt really bother me that much, but I think your is just in a crappy place. Either way, I hope everything turns out to be ok for you! |
Thanks! I guess they just scrapped off the top....I don't know. I looked at it and there is a pencil eraser size hole there and it is now hurting (just from being on it all day). If it comes back w/ something wrong, is that when they go in and remove the roots? That sounds extra painful!!! I hope all were okay w/ yours too! |
I had two taken off my back last month - and the first night, just like yours, they both throbbed ALOT!!! I too, am pretty tolerant of pain, and I was surprised at how much they hurt - one was under my bra and it REALLY hurt! I am happy to report that the next day was MUCH better and the day after that was just fine. I think yours is also irritated by the location - so it may take a little longer to feel OK. I'll have to say though that the scabs didn't come off for about 3 weeks - so while they didn't hurt any longer, the scab was there for a long long time. Don't bother it or pick it off, it is like a bandaid and will help the wound to heal better. |
one removed on my arm when I was in 7th grade. I had stiches though and I SWEAR my muscle just FINALLY filled in the hole it left! So 8 years later I have a nice full arm! haah they must have taken out a lot, but then again I just don't have a lot of meat on my bones so you could really tell! |
I would say it's the location of where you got the mole removed that you've got going against you. If you had a busy day and running around a lot, that would be hard on that since you're putting your weight on it, which can't be helped. Whenever you get a chance, take a rest and put your foot up. I hope it gets better really soon and the tests come back good!!! |
mole My daughter had one right under her second toe...also said it would take a long time to heal because of the bad area also..finally the DR had to cauterize it after a month to get it to heal and that did it...good luck |
yes, just this year had a mole removed on my stomach..it was nasty, now i have a round dark scar.... nice huh?? hopefully it will fade with time |

I've had a couple removed. It's a pain, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm glad it didn't hurt you too much. |
I had 2 removed. One was a mole and the other was a little weird thing on my hip, it didnt even look like a mole. Dr removed it and said it doesnt look like its anything. 3 weeks later I got a phone call I had melanoma it was in the first stages of it. It was in a spot that doesnt even see the sun, guess its one of those weird things that just happen. I had to have MOHS skin surgery ( http://www.mohscollege.org/AboutMMS.html ) and they removed the entire area around it. They did a full body MRI and everything came back normal. A cosmetic surgeon did the surgery so I had a very little scar. The area they removed was so big I could probably stick my hand it the hole before they closed it up. It healed nicely. The other mole I had removed was nothing, but now since I had skin cancer any mole that shows up needs to be removed. When the dr checked my entire body for moles (very embarassing your standing there half naked while the drs check you all over) and she said I actually had the clearest skin shes ever seen, so I guess thats good news |
I had one removed on my cheek bone near my ear - it was gross to have it done.. sounded like they were drilling in my head. But mine had stitches. |
This is unbelievable that here is this thread today! I too went to the Dermo yesterday. I had one growth 'thing' on my back right at my bra that has really started to annoy me! My husband came too, b/c he has a few things that need to be looked at and removed. I check off for him to get a full body, but me I said no b/c that was there for only the one growth. Well here is me and hubby - him in a paper robe, I was laughing my ass off! I even took a picture with my phone. He gets the exam over first and had a few things on his face 'frozen' off! Now me, I lift up my shirt for him to see may back and he doesn't care about the growth I am there for, he says oh that's fine it can stay, what he is concerned about is the 2 dark brown odd shape birth marks in the middle of my back (that I have had forever!). He says do you have any more? So, now I have to get into a paper robe because YES I do have a few more...Needless to say that I didn't prepare for a full body look over b/c otherwise I would have worn regular underwear and not a throng!!! HOW EMBARESSING!!   And then to get even more embaressed, I have a mole in my bikini low area, that has to go as well...I have about 6 that need to be scraped and sent to the Lab for pathology...JUST GREAT!!! I need to make an apt. to go and have this done in 3-4 weeks. I could just cry :( :( :( |

I think it is a good thing to have moles checked every year or even more....no matter if you had one come back w/ cancer or not. I agree w/ Kona...it is better to be safe then sorry! |

And like Chrissy0277 said, had one removed where the sun never hit it and it was melanoma ----- so scary!!! I guess you never know.....my grandmother is having problems w/ little "cancers" popping up on her skin...not moles but "sun spot" type things. So scary! |

mole It would get better, but not heal 100%...the Dr said walking and standing on her foot never gave it a chance....the mole was small, but the incision was huge..BUT it did not hurt for a month, just bleed and would not heal completely...everyone is different. |

My doctor told me to keep it covered for a few days and wash it with peroxide (which I haven't done yet) and keep neospirin on it. He also said to cover w/ with vasoline when I take a shower/bath...it would help keep the water out of it. I am hoping (and praying) that mine heals fast! It is a bad spot for one, that is for sure!!! |

I had a mole removed about 15 years ago and they put a couple of staples in it. It was on my side. When I was a teenager still in hs I had a cyst removed on the side of my foot that the podiatrist left open. This was the beginning of Summer and he told me he could stitch it up and I could not get in the water for 6 weeks or leave it open and soak it in warm water and white vinegar twice a day. So, of course I opted for the later it was the start of summer vacation and I was going the be at the lake most of the summer with my grandparents. Hope it gets to feeling better soon. Good luck with the test results. Keep us posted with the results if you don't mind. |
I've had 2 removed Melanoma runs in my family and I'm very fair skinned. I have had 2 moles removed. The first one was on my back and was scraped out all the way to the muscle. I had several stitches that look like laces on a football. It got infected after the surgery and formed a puss pocket and made the scar even worse. That was 9 years ago and the scar has faded significantly but it's still visible. I don't mind though, better safe than sorry! The second one I had removed wasn't a big deal. It was the same procedure that it sounds like you had done on your foot where they just numb it and laser it off. I just cleaned it with peroxide on a cotton ball every night and it healed up just fine. Did you call your doctor to let them know you're having pain?? It wouldn't hurt to give a call over there just to make sure it's okay. |

I haven't tried peroxide...too afraid....no, I am going to clean it good tonight. But I have used neosporin every time I have changed my bandages. They didn't laser mine off.....it was cut and then scrapped out....the hole looks deep, but not too deep and is about the size of a pencil eraser. I think the location is what is getting me down.........such a bad place! I watched them do it...crazy, I know. They used some kind of cold spray to numb it before he did anything, so I didn't feel a thing. Thanks everyone for all the advice. |
I have had alot of moles removed... They almost always cut them out and I always need stiches. Most times the novacain hurts the most but I have had a few that hurt for a few days. One on my toe... I limped for a few days! I had skin cancer frozen off and THAT really hurt the most... it burned for like 20 or more min!!! Never again man... cut me all you want but don't freeze me! I go next week to get looked at again  it is best to get them taken care of. |
