need suggestions, ideas, or recommendations for a problem I have With all this talk about Christmas I was reminded something. Alright so Christmas is coming up and I just love Christmas. Just one problem, I have 3 cats that love climbing the christmas tree. I have tried everything to get them to stop but they won't. They almost destroyed the tree last year from climbing it and laying on the branches and knocking down and breaking the ornaments. I tried a simple repellent that had to be sprayed but it didn't work at all. So I am looking for a good repellent for cats, does anyone know of any good repellents that are safe but still work?? Or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do. For those of you that have cats indoors, what do you about them climbing the christmas tree?? |
Maybe if you ask at a pet store I know they make sprays but not sure how well the work maybe paint some moth balls green and red and hang them idn the tree. LOL Mine like to lay on the skirt under the tree and hide amoungst the packages but they're too fat to try to climb it |
my 2 cats are very mischievous to the best deterrent i have found is double sided tape if i don't want them on something thats what i use it might be hard to use on a tree but if you put it where they go in at it might stop them i too am worried this is the first year with Peeka and he likes to get into stuff so we will see how it goes. |
Just a thought..... I don't have cats because I am allergic to them. But the idea I have is to get a smaller tree and have it up on a table that they can not reach to climb.... Good Luck, Teri |
My approach is different. I think the cats would make THE BEST CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATIONS ever. Don't use glass balls and use twist ties to attach the ornaments to the tree. Firmly anchor the tree so it won't fall over just plan for the cats to be in the tree to begin with and it will reduce your stress level tremendously. Our one and only house cat loved to perch in the tree and swat at the dogs as they went by..... for our family the joy of seeing our animals enjoy the season and the special "treats" they brought were more important to us than having a "department store" pretty tree. Granted by the time Christmas came and went we could have won the prize for the WORST DECORATED TREE..... lol... those were the good ole happy days. You brought back memories of the days when Boo the Boxer was a pup and would promptly unwrap every single present put under the tree. That year we laughed more and wrapped more and Boo was ever so much fun. She never damaged any of the gifts, just took the wrapping paper off..... :D |
if theyr afriad of water get one of those squirt bottles and squirt them with it every time they go on it. this works great with my cat. (she used to try to get to my bird but after the water she doesnt even look at her lol) |
i say water also and when you leave your home put them in a room like the bathroom or bedroom thats what we do |
