Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers My husband and I are flying out to Denver at 6 am tomorrow to handle his brother's affairs. who just passed away suddenly. I understand Denver is under some kind of Blizzard warning for tonight into tomorrow. I hate flying and being away from home. If all goes well, we hope to be back tomorrow night real late. I am so nervous leaving Cali for the first time. My 21 year old dtr will be taking care of her, I hope. |

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers. We are back now and it was a really difficult trip. My husband does not show his feelings usually but this hit him hard, Myself as well as I talked to my BIL every week. He was very lonely the past 18 months and he was finally on the road to a better alcohol free life. I won't go into the details but we were told he died peacefully in his sleep but when we went to the apartment we were horrified. My husband doesn't want to pursue it as he can't deal with it right now and want's to believe he died as they stated. The apartment manager was a God send she helped us tremendously and has called we several times to see if we are ok. She basically is handling getting rid of everything in the apartment. All we had to do was take the few things we wanted. With her help/descretion we are letting the tenants at the apartment have what they want. He lived in a building where most tenants have fallen on hard times and can use the stuff and they were Dale's friends these past 18 months. I cannot tell you how everyone we dealt with in Colorado, from the funeral director, who handled everything and even met us at the apartment with the certificates so we didn't have to find him, to the lawyer who is working on filing all the paperwork to the courts to the apartment manager who told me she feels like my sister since we have talked so much since this happened. Sorry to ramble but I tend to talk when stressed. |
If there is anything I can do just let me know since i am in Denver. I am glad you are back and sorry you had to go thru this. |
Thanks I can't tell you how nice everyone was in Denver. Even an older man in Burger King said to me in line you look really tired or sad are you ok? My Bil lived in Englewood. I do have one thing maybe you could help with he had a newspaper delivered everyday and I need to cancel it. I'm not sure what newspaper it was. Is there more one in Denver? What ae the names? Thanks! |
I'm sorry, Patti. I just saw this.:( Could the apt mgr tell you which paper it was? Here is the Englewood site - just in case: http://www.zwire.com/site/tab6.asp?brd=2713 |
There are two big papers here. The Denver Post and The Rocky Mtn News. You can probably call either one, because they are affiliated in some way. You can call these numbers to cancel it: The Denver Post: (303) 832-3232 or (800) 543-5543 Rocky Mountain News: (303) 892-6397 or (800) 892-6397 So sorry for your loss. I am glad your stay was good with seeing good people here. I am not far from where your brother-n-law lived. It is a nice community. |
:hands: :hands: :hands: prayers coming your way, Cali will be fine:) Edit I see your back, I'm glad you made it back okay |
Yes they are two different papers but like Starsky says they are both the same operation. You can call one of the numbers Starsky gave you and cancel any of the two papers. You can also do it online if that is easier under Rocky Mountain News.com. Hope this helps. |
I am sorry that you're going through all of this. It must be so hard on your husband. I hope that he lets you be there for him, I know my husband isn't very good at showing his emotions either. I will definately be thinking about you and your family during this time. |
I am so sorry - sudden, unexpected deaths are so hard. I hope you feel better soon |
Thanks so much! I will call tomorrow and cancel. |
