i feel like i'm going to EXPLODE!! Well, I've started a new "diet" It's not really to lose weight, I really don't t hink I need to (I'm 6'3" and 147 ibs) but it's more to be healthy! One of the requirements is that I drink 8 glasses of water a day. We all know that is what we are supposed to do, but who really does it? I have for three days straight and there isn't a moment that I don't have to pee!!!!! AHHH!! hehe Anyone, really, drink their 8 a day??????? |
Haha ya right I barely drink one a day!! (more of a juice drinker :p ) I know guys that do it and ya they have the same problem as you! Drinking water is great but just don't go overboard...!! I just found this thing I got in my email about beauty tips.. ---> "My mom was recently hospitalized for 3 days because of drinking tooooooo much water!!!! She was drowning her insides literally. Her sodium level was down to 118 and normal is above 135. Death and seizures can occur once it gets to 125. She was near death and already going into a seizure when we arrived at the hospital. Water is good but too much is bad please remind your reader to not drink more than a gallon a day at the most." And then the person responded with ----> I'll go out on a limb here and remind everyone that one of the "side effects" of drinking water, is the need to urinate. Excessive water drinking would lead to an increase in urinating, which, in turn, can deplete the body of not only sodium, but, potassium. Keep this in mind when drinking a lot of water... |
My hubby dose it. But he dose PT EVERYDAY so he needs it! Me on the other hand, no where NEAR it! I might drink a cup of water a week lol |

I found it helps to use a straw cause I'm NOT a water drinker either - and staying at 8 glasses a day IS healthy - but I know I drink more than that....I've heard too much is bad too - as with everything, we need to monitor our own bodies.....if you feel like you're overdoing - cut back. after reading the article I posted months back I never knew how important water really is to our bodies -- it's here if you want to read it ...http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ighlight=water |
I drink my 8 glasses a day, if not more. I have never had a problem other than having to pee a lot. I have always drank water. I was never much of a soda drinker or juice drinker. Water is the only thing that will quinch my thirst. All others just make me feel full (bloated) and still thirsty, especially if it has sugar in it. Love that water!! Yes you will lose sodium in your system, but for most of us that's a good thing. Water can flush your system out of all the impurities and excess sodium in your body. It also keeps your kidneys active and clear which in turn speeds up your metabolism. |
You would have to drink a WHOLE lot of water for your insides to drown. I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. It is very good for you. I agree with the previous poster....drinking lots of water does flush your system of sodium but that is a good thing. You will lose weight by drinking lots of water because it flushes you of sodium. Sodium makes you retain water. So, when you flush the sodium out, you flush the retained water out with it. That is another reason why you pee alot. But that is a good thing.   |

I think problems are more likely to occur when you are not eating very much at all and then drink tons and tons of water. Just look at the sodium content of almost any food and you will see that it is not difficult to get it right back up to where it should be with a few bites! If you are worried about potassium, eat a banana..it's good for you anyway! I completely gave up drinking pop/juice 1 year and 2 months ago...it feels great, really it does. I occasionally have a glass, but 99.9% of my fluid intake is water. |
vilette, what are you trying to melt away or what??? you dont need to lose that much weight girl,, your thin enough, you look great, are you kidding me???? |
Keep drinking the water there soon you won't have that feeling. |

I gave up soda/juice/etc along time back. I thought I would see a difference right away - have had friends who gave up anything carbonated and they lost like 10lbs right off the bat - NOT me! Anyway, I never touch anything but water and occassionally lemonade/cranberry juice. I have to have my water ICE cold and I have to drink with a straw - I find I drink more with a straw, then just sipping it. I have been meaning to get those Crystal Light packets, but keep forgetting - it is going on my shopping list right now! |

I get my 8 and more; it’s just habitual. I have a bottle on my desk ALWAYS. If I don’t drink water I feel…gross. |
You're 6'3"???? That's awesome. |

Anyone else over 6 feet? hehe |
When I get the urge to the 8 glasses a day thing, I just take my big jug of water and go sit on the pot for the day, 'cause I'm not gonna be able to get more than 5 feet away before I have to go again.:D But I do feel better when I drink more water. |

haha- good idea! I'm always have to pee!! But it's day 5 and it's getting better! |
I try to, but it is hard during the school year. I, like the kids, have scheduled breaks. But unlike the kids, I can't just excuse myself to go to the bathroom. Plus, my classroom is one of the farthest from the office. |
I drink my 8 a day. I just keep a bottle of water w/ me at my desk at work and I refill it on my way to the potty :P |
I drink well over 8 glasses of water a day. Because of the meds I'm on, they dry out my mouth so I drink lots of water. Plus, it just makes me feel better when I do. 'The elixer of life' hubby calls it. |
I don't really know how much water I drink, but I'm sure it's over 8 glasses/day. I guess that's because water is the only thing that I like to drink. I agree with the person that posted about water being the only thing that quenches her thirst. If I drink a coke or even juice, I'm still thirsty. |
I try everyday. It's a huge struggle for me. I have a 32 oz cup that I use(bought from Weight Watchers) I fill it up everyday and sometimes I drink the whole thing other days just 8 oz's. The majority of the time I get half ways through it. I have to admit going going to the bathroom is such pain, but in the long run it's for the best! ;) |
I drink at least 8 glasses, probably more like 10-12 EVERY DAY. I don't drink pop at all, rarely drink juice. I do like an occasional ice tea and I need my morning cup of coffee. Other than water, the only other beverage I drink is club soda with lemon juice and then only about 1/2 a very small bottle. But, I have always been a water drinker, I prefer it cold, but I'll drink it at room temp also. There is a yoga practice that is thousands of years old that involves chugging 1 1/2 liters of room temp purified water immediately upon rising in the morning every day. I did this for about 2 years before I got out of the habit - something about needing to take a little Yorkie out before I do anything else - but what a difference it made in my skin, hair and nails as well as keeping the weight down. Your body will get used to the increased water intake in about a week and the urination will return to normal. For all of you using "diet" products, be aware that you can easily develop issues from regular aspartame. If you are prone to autoimmune disorders, migraines, or have any mental health issues, aspartame should be completely off limits as many studies have shown that aspartame makes all these symptoms worse. Many neurological problems have cleared up simply by eliminating aspartame from the system!! |
I too have to remind myself to drink water...........especially in the winter! |
You get used to the water - also, not everbody needs 8 glasses a day - You might need to cut back to 5 and then build up slowly if you can. When I begain Weight Watcher's, one of the things they stressed is that you have to take your own body's needs into consideration. For example, some people just need more carbs than others, and others need more protein. I love WW because I was never hungey and never felt uncomfortable. I don't see why you should either - Maybe your kidneys can't deal with that much water. Maybe you should think about cutting back and see if you lose weight. I lost 30 pounds on WW about 5 years ago, and have since modified it to suit my lifestyle and needs and have maintained that weight loss. Good luck - it's as hard thing to commit to a diet. Judy |
