Help... Ebay question Hi guys, I shop all the time on Ebay, but never sell. I'm trying to get a seller to sell me something with the buy it now option, except she can't add it because someone has already bid on the item. But she also doesn't know how to end the auction early so that I can buy the item directly. Anyone know how to do this?  |
I dont think she can end it early. Once someone has bid on it iit is a commitment to buy |
no, actually.. i know you can for sure end it early I've done it before.. I just don't know how to do it. hmm, may be someone has done this before and can help |
I have to agree with Chachi. I think you can only end it early if there are no bids. If you go to ebay help there should be a search feature of how to end it early & that could probably explain it all to you. Good luck! |
The way I understand it is you can only end an auction early 'IF' it has more than 12 hours left and there are no bids. You might want to check with ebay to be sure though. |
You can only end it if no one has bid... Once someone has bid on it, that is a committment to sell/buy... |
She can end it even if it has bids. She just needs to go to this page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/ques...dlist-now.html THere is a clickable phrase that says: End My Listing Early form. She will be asked to sign in to ebay at that point. Then she enters her listing item number, it will ask her if she wants to cancel all bids or sell to the high bidder. In this case she would cancel the bids. Reason is item is no longer available or error in listing...whatever. Then she can relist with a buy it now. If she sells direct from an ebay listing that she ends though, she can get suspended from ebay...so she needs to do the relist. |
awesome, thanks for all your help |
whoo hoo - I know who I may be talking to when I need some ebay advise - you sound like you know Ebay pretty well - do you sell ? |
:::looking around::: who me?? I have tons of experience with buying stuff on ebay.. and being a hawk and watching everything :D :D I've never sold anything. But I think I'm about to make my biggest purchase on e-bay. I'm a little nervous, even though I know that ebay is safe |

yes, techinically it can be. But if you are offering a seller an amount that they are willing to end the auction for, then they will end the auction for you. I have had sellers do this many times. It's really not a big deal. Vilette, I'm looking at buying a mac laptop. |
well...GOOD LUCK To you.....man am I nosy or what ?? You really didn't have to answer me lol ...and I hope you get it |
I've also ended auctions early if someone was interested and was willing to pay what I actually wanted. |

Yeah, exactly.. if the seller gets the money they want even sooner.. then it's in good interest to them to end it earlier. Im all for it :D 1 hour left, and i'm hoping to get the laptop $200 cheaper than expected!!!!! wish me luck! :D |
It's only against ebay rules if you end the auction for someone to buy from you without relisting on ebay. That is considered circumventing ebay fees or ebay fee avoidance. IF you, however, relist, ebay does get their money from you and that is the only reason for the rule. Villette, I sell a LOT on ebay. Nothing pup related really, mostly clothing, and I also sell dolls that I make lol! If you have any questions ask away! |
You can end early even if someone bid. They will get an email stating that the item is no longer available. The seller just has to say that she just realized the item was damaged. It is against "the rules" but so many people do it. ;) |

I was just reading the rules about ending the auction early.. and it said that you still have to pay ebay the listing fees and whatever it is. Anyways, Guess who just bought a brand new lap top!!!! YUP, thats me! yippie!!!! I'm a little nervous about paying all that money. I knw ebay is suppose to be safe and legit, but I'm still a bit nervous. |

The only way you get strikes as a seller, is if you don't send the item someone paid for. Then you are a non-selling seller. You can also have listings pulled by ebay for inappropriate, copyrighted, or other illegal content, and if that happens too often, they can do something. Really the only way a seller would get booted is if they didn't pay their fees or they shilled their auctions. Buyers receive nonpaying bidder strikes if the seller turns them in. A lot of sellers end up getting negs from people who never paid because that glitch in the feedback system hasn't been taken care of yet. There is absolutely nothing against ebay rules about ending a listing early...to put a buy it now on a listing and sell it using that feature. They get more money that way really. Two listing fees, plus the BIN fee for the new auction, pls the final value fee. So, ebay makes out really well... |
I have been buying and selling on ebay for 3 years...I know it can be nerve wracking sending a large sum of money to people you dont know..just make sure she had GREAT feedback..if its less than perfect read the feedback comments...the negative ones will show you what other buyers have had troubles with..GOOD LUCK!! Dawn |
The seller had 98% good feed back  .. with 3 negatives out of like 287 comments. They seemed like he said, she said crap. So I sent the money ($1040!!) and I will get the new laptoppy by the end of the week! yay! I can't believe i just spent $1000 NOT on a yorkie.. LoL!!! :D |
Sounds good!!! Dawn |
