just have to vent... no offense to anyone!! Hey everyone... i hope I dont yelled at for saying this but its been bothering me, so i guess i will.. its soooo annoying when people keep asking over and over on this site about their yorkies' ears and if and when they will stand up and how they are concerned...etc... there is absolutely NOTHING to be concerned about unless the person decides to show it which most people dont do! why is it such a big deal, i really dont get it? i think yorkies with their ears down are just as cute if not CUTER than with their ears up! :animal36 sorry dont wanna offend anyone... just had to get that out... |
argh i just read my entry again and i sound really mean lol... i guess those people come on here for advice/comments/opinions just like everyone else and i shouldnt be mad esp cuz they came to the right place!! so once again i hope i didnt offend anyone!! |
I think people actually make more reference to size than the ears up/down issue. I don't know, maybe it's because people think they can control that factor? Although I do remember someone a while back wanting tips on how to keep their yorkie small  I like to be optimistic and think that people just talk about these things out of curiosity.. Just like how you don't know what sex or eye color your skinbaby would be. I think these people love their dogs just as much. |
I know what you mean about the same ?'s being asked & sometimes it is about the ears. But I just don't open those threads, or click out if I do. There are new people joining this site almost daily,so they are curious & I quess most of us have in our minds that a yorkie's ears should always be standing & when they don't they get concerned. I know they can do a search, but that would take away from the interaction w/ the established members. I look at it as a way to join in the group & break the ice. ;) |
To each their own - it is what makes the world turn round. |
exactly....THEY COME HERE FOR ADVISE AND ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS.... |
you know what??? when i first started i asked the same questions over and over and thats why i know plenty about yorkies. you wanna learn, you a ask questions thats what we are here for and thats what makes this site.. with 5000 posts, that question has never crossed my mind, if i could help anyone with any info that i know i would be glad to do so cause its this site i got it from not matter how many times they ask..... |
i like my yorkie ears up i think it gives them a little more personality but eveyone has their own preferences |

a few months ago lexi had a problem with her ears too, one up, two up. one up, one down two down, yes it annoyed me to no end, but it is what it is.. and i have posted so many times about that. i just left them alone and they both finally went up... no one ever go mad at me... its just a preference |
It does seem like sometimes the same questions get asked alot..but when you are new the search feature doesn't always get noticed or used. It is just part of being new and not being familiar with the site. It's funny about the ears thing though. My inlaws were here for a week and they loved both my babies, but they think my Cooper is way cuter because his ears stand up all the time. Carley's don't always stand up. I have only had her two weeks though, and she is only 6 months old. I need to take her and get her ears trimmed and I am sure they will stand. I personally don't care, that's why I haven't been in a rush to get them trimmed...but I think that it's funny my inlaws commented on it and equated which one is cuter based on it. |
I personally love the ears up. It's just a personal preference and I love the standard. I don't see anything wrong with people embracing the features that their dogs have, be it their ears, their tails, their coat, etc. I think learning comes from asking questions, and I've never seen why people get so bent out of shape when someone else talks about their yorkies ears being cute standing up or down. As long as you're happy with what you have, who cares about other peoples preferences!? |
Ooookay everyone as you guys can see i know that its nothing to be mad about..it was just a little irritating when people ask the same ques about and about something that there isnt much to be concerned about... thats all!! :) |
yes but, we all get crazy now and then... we are all concerned about our little ones... if we knew , we wouldnt ask.....in the beginning we were all amatures.. ...we are here to learn and have fun,,some people just dont know and we ar here to help them.... if anything the top posters should be annoyed and bothered and we arent, cause we have all been there one time or another....its ok if they keep asking, we can never stop them, they just want to learn |
I hope anyone will feel free to ask any questions they like. As someone said, if you are new, you haven't even thought about using the search feature. I really enjoy the polls even if they have been done before. Seems like I learn something from all the posts, someone will have a new idea or a new opinion or even a new idea. There was a good poll the other day about size. I'd like to see it done with only replies as to adult dogs. I think that one asked what size you expected your dog to be when grown. I think that may have skewed it to the small side. My breeder told me Little Bit wouldn't be over 2 lbs. Well she's past 3 lbs at almost 6 months so if I had answered a month ago as to her adult size, I would have been so wrong. Since I haven't figured out how to do polls yet, I appreciate all the different ones. Also another good one, was about price. I found that one very interesting but I would also like to see one relating size & price. Rather we like it or not, it seems like the little ones do cost more. I also wouldn't mind seeing one as to how many adult dogs are ears up or down. I think we all want to know exactly how our pup will turn out, but it seems there is no alternative to waiting. I don't wait well. I also would like to know how many breed their dogs, show their dogs, etc. It is kind of hard to ask a question that doesn't interest me. I guess I just enjoy the site. :) Oh, by the way, no offense taken.:) |

LOL, family...you can always count on them for an opinion can't you? We also had a classic car show in our town on Sunday, and we took the puppies with us. Cooper drew tons of attention, everyone wanting to know what kind of dog he is. (He's a Morkie) But I think there again it was the ears that drew their attention to him in the first place. People will always have preferences, but I know with my babies, I really don't care...they are both special in their own way and I prize the differences between them actually. I also think with some people's questions on the ears standing, people think that is how they are supposed to be and those having new puppies get concerned if everything is not the way they "thought" it would be. It's the same with little skin babies...when your babies don't do everything right to schedule, such as rolling over, sitting up...you worry if everything is all right. As you have more children those worries lessen and I think it is the same with new puppy parents... |
It seems to me that when we all first join YT we usually have puppies and have the usual questions: size, ears, potty training, bathing/grooming frequency and shampoo types, the first vomit, bout of diarrehia, time not eating, etc. Maybe we should have a "resource" page with all of the most commonly asked questions. Not that I mind all of the questions on YT - it entertains me at work all day!!!! |
People pay a lot of money for yorkies and they just want them to have their ears up...there's nothing wrong with wanting their ears up. |
geez it was just something that i was feeling at that time.. doesnt mean i feel it all the time.. all i meant to say was yorkies are cute no matter what they look like and ppl shouldnt be concerned about little things that could make their yorkie look "different" than the "standard" THATS ALL... i wasnt mad just a lil irritated so i expressed how i feel... now everyone is bashing on me and telling me to chill out.. its not like i screamed this all out and was super pissed was I? i know... like i said in the 2nd post.. basically i replied to my own post (lol) that ppl come here for questions/comments/opinions and i shouldnt get mad about it.. so there |

Thank you! Thank you for your opinion. My Izzie will be four months old on the 6th of October and I see not one sign of her ears standing and really don't mind if they do or don't. I know as a new owner you do want to obtain as much information as possible about your new little friend but I personally think my Izzie is Perfect with her ears the way they are. I do agree with you with if you are not showing your dog then does it matter... Anyway, thanks again for your opinion it kind of worried me reading a lot of ear obsessed questions when it had never really crossed my mind. |
I think people want to know about the ears and size because when you think of getting a yorkie everyone wants one that is to the standard of the yorkie. I know I had no plans on showing mine when I got her but I did want one that met most of the standards for a yorkie. I didn't so much care about the size as the coat quality/texture and the upright ears. :) |

I agree. When I first started visiting this site, I was oblivious to the search feature. If I had a question, I posted it. I know probably every single one of my questions has been answered, but how was I to know? I was new to this site and still feeling my way around it. |
