Why Is Laughter Like Medicine? this is for all of you that think im nuts when i say that lol Why Is Laughter Like Medicine? Take Two Jokes and Call Me in the Morning It's not all in your head! Laughter has numerous physiological effects on the body. Here are just a few: Someone who is laughing or has just laughed has a decreased perception of pain. Although blood pressure increases while actually laughing, those who laugh a lot tend to have lower blood pressure overall. Laughing increases blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract, so food is digested better. (If dinner is a disaster, try telling a few jokes to help it go down.) After a good belly laugh, muscles are left in a relaxed state. (No, we don't mean Oregon.) Twenty minutes of belly laughing is the equivalent of a short aerobic workout. (No spandex required!) i didn't know all that. but i always feel better after laughing. i guess i'm kinda like you i don't like to be serious and when a friend is upset instead of trying to be a shrink i do silly things to try to make them laugh. |
