When I was about 3, my grandmother rescued twin fawns that had lost their mother. As the got older, the male, Bucky, jumped thru her picture window but wasn't hurt. They lived on top of a hill with no nearby neighbors so Bucky must have thought it was just an opening into the woods. Becky (the female) stayed with them. My Uncle, who lived there, was a Beagle breeder and made a special pen for her. We fed her with a baby bottle and she was as tame as a puppy. She stayed until the game warden came and said she had to be released. It was almost hunting season and she had no fear of people so they couldn't just release her, so they took her to a zoo. It was one of those where the animals are in huge areas of their natural habitat and not cages. The herd that was there took her right in as one of their own and she thrived there. Fawns are not as fragile as they look so Bambi should do well. Good luck to your SIL and Bambi. (just saw the pics - they are adorable. How can anyone shoot a deer? They are so beautiful.) |
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww love those pictures... feel bad for bambi |
That is amazing...the weenie that is. Wow, she really has her hands full! We had a baby show up in our goat pen once. (Back when we had goats.) Stayed there for two days, no sign of mama--we had wildlife rescue come pick it up, poor thing.:( I wouldn\'t even know where to begin as far as trying to rehab a fawn, or what your even supposed to do with it when it has recovered. :idontknow |
well she\'s goign to release it at the vets house when he\'s bigger & better they have deer out there. she said they get mean when they are in season rutt they get agressive i said lets neuter him and keep him selfish i know but he may get attached and not want to leave weenie\'s in love i think maybe she would be heartbroken when he leaves i couldn\'t shoot a deer! |
