Need Advice Stat Ok. Well I got a job offer NOT in my field, but the money's much more than I make now. The only bad thing is that it is out in the burbs and I will have to drive out there. Good things are that I will not have to starve or struggle to pay my rent. I work in my field now and my commute is a dream. I love workign downtown and shopping and getting home in ten mins. I just got a new apt near my current job that I will be moving into on the 23rd of this month This is going to be out of my field, good money and a nightmare commute. I am struggling to feed myself now. Job that I got offered has health insurance (not dental or eyes though). I have nothing now. ahhhhhhhhh what do I do? |
p.s. I have to call them back today. Come on girls! What do I do? What do I do? |
Oh that's tough...I say take the job and see if you can stick it out for a year to get ahead and then go back to your career field??? :) |
This is a hard decision! I don't know what I'd do. I guess my best advise is to do what YOU think it right for YOU! Good luck. Sorry I'm not more help. |
I SAY take the job, its more money and we all like more money dont we? good luck sweetie in whatever decision you make.. you will probably save more money too not shopping every day.... |
I say take the job, use the money to make yourself a savings, then if you don't like it within a year, move to another job, but at least you'll have money in your savings to help you :D CONGRATS! This is great Kristy, I'm really happy for you. Go for it girl, you deserve it. Now if you can only send some of your lucky dust to me, that would be great. I NEED MORE MONEY :p |
Can you move closer to the new job instead? |
I would take the job. Two of the things you need out of a job are job satisfaction (which you don' know about yet because you haven't tried it and adequate income, which you stated you do not have. Go for the job that pays more! |
I also say take it. Sometimes blessings come at us in unexpected packages. This job will offer you more economical stability AND health benefits which are extremely important. Plus you never know, you may decide you like it and stay there. Maybe you can make a list of pros and cons to help you decide which way to go. Good luck to you and whatever decision you make, we're here for you!!:) |
will the commute eat up the difference in pay? |
take the other job.. plus.... move closer... Im sure you can get a refund at your new apt... since you have not moved in.... good luck! |
Take the job if only for the benefits. It is so hard to get med ins. And if you do get it on your own, the cost is outrageous. You can always quit if you don't like it, but at least you won't have to struggle just to live. Can I have which ever job you don't want? I have been looking since March.:D Good luck with whatever you decide. |

In my opinion I would take the new job, it seems like it offers you better oppurtunities even if it is a driving nightmare, it never hurts to try :) And if it doesn't work out you can always fall back on your main career. Good luck and I hope everything turns out of the best! |
Thanks everyoen for your reponses! No, the commute will not eat up the difference in pay. It won't even come close. I am NOT moving closer to the job. I hate that area. It's awful. I love the neighborhood that my new apt is in - so that's not really an option. Plus, I finally found a great place that allows Stewies! They're hard to come by. I am leaning toward taking it and then I will keep looking for a new one in my field. |
