Recipe Exchange?! Okay, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cooking and baking and entertaining and......... Anyway, I am always looking for new recipes to try. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in posting some of their favorite (or family) recipes. It can be any type of recipe and as many as you want to post. I will post a few of mine first, to get the ball rolling! :p Fresh Salsa Mix together the following: 3 medium roma tomatoes (quartered) 1/2 medium onion 4 sprigs cilantro 2 cloves garlic 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 tsp. fresh lemon or lime juice 1 jalapeno Green Bean Wraps Perfect for parties/holidays 2 cans whole green beans (drained) 1 pack bacon (cut in half) 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup butter - melted lemon pepper and garlic salt Mix melted butter and brown sugar. Add lemon pepper and garlic salt, to taste. Wrap a few green beans with 1/2 slice of bacon; can secure with toothpick, if needed. Continue until all bacon slices (halves) are gone. (Make bundles as big or small as you like). Place in casserole dish. Pour butter mixture over bean wraps. Bake at 350 for 45 min. When done, cover with foil. You can leave the liquid in the dish, for added flavor OR remove wraps to a platter. |
A good Old English Recipe :) This is the recipe for ''cottage pie'', its lovely for the winter to warm you uo inside  Serves 4 people: Boil a large packet of Defrosted minced beef, adding gravy granules and stirring untill cooked. Drain the minced beef and use it to cover the bottom of a oven dish. Boil and mash about 7 big potatoes, and cover the mince beef in the oven dish with the mash. Pop it in the oven, after about 15 minutes grate a topping of cheese on top of the mash potato, and finish cooking until the cheese has melted and you have a golden crispy top. Serve with a selection of vegetables and gravy :) |
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy! Here's one if you like Basil: Tomato Basil Pie: 1 refrigerated pie crust. Follow instructions for baking it 1 Cup of fresh basil 1 Cup of Hellmans Mayo 4-5 medium fresh tomatoes 1 Cup motzarella cheese shreeded 2 lg garlic cloves (I use 3 because I LOVE garlic) pepper to taste bake pie crust, when removed from oven sprinkle 1/2 cheese over crust Cut and dice tomatoes and remove some of the liquid by placing into paper towel and then put into pie crust. In chopper chop garlic and basil Spread basil and garlic over tomatoes In another bowl mix together remaining cheese, mayo & pepper and spread over basil/garlic mix. Bake at 350 for approx 25-30 mins until brown on top. Enjoy You would think you were in Italy the smell is soooooooooo good. |

I have a very easy snack recipe, it's great to take to parties or anything social, everyone always loves them! 1 Bag of waffle pretzles 1 bag of choc rollo's 1 pag of pecan halfs layer a cookie sheet with the pretzles, place a rollo on each pretzle, put in a preheated oven at 200, and place the prepared cookie sheet in oven long enough to where the rollo is slightly melted, then place a pecan half on each rollo and put in the fridge to cool! these are so good!!!! I usually make these at christmas time and I double the recipe and come home with none! |

Thanks for all the posts and links!!! I am a big fan of almost all the cooking sites, I Google recipes all the time......course, I haven't added to my cookbook collection in years......... I didn't realize there had been another recipe thread....course, I didn't "search" for any because I was in the mood to get some new ones anyway! hee,hee I just really enjoy getting new recipes to try and to see what everyone else likes........a group of us (in my area) use to do a recipe exchange.....where 2 days a month, we all cooked and shared our recipes.......that was fun. Then, the email and mail recipe exchanges took place, but those never lasted long....... I LOVE to cook, but it is nice to go out to eat every now and then........I didn't even grow up in a big family, but we were a different family....one that always did things together and tried new things, etc......not many of those around anymore.....so sad!!! Course, I am raising my only child (daughter) the same way I was brought up.......she loves it!!!! I wanted to share one more recipe: Chocolate Spice Crinkles (makes 64) (perfect for holiday baking or groups or school) 1 stick butter, softened 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 3 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 cup flour 1/2 cup confectioner sugar 4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate; melted as directed on package Mix on med. speed, beat butter, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt until creamy. Add eggs, vanilla and chocolate; beat until blended. With mixer on low speed, beat in flour just until blended. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Heat oven to 350 and lightly grease cookie sheets with spray. Roll level measuring tablespoon full of dough into balls. Roll in confectioners sugar and place 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake 12 minutes or until tops are puffed and cracked. Remove to wire rack to cool. These are SUPER yummy (IMO)!!!! |
