*****Please Say A Prayer For The Safety Of These Kids!!! Everyone, I am asking for all of your thoughts and Prayers at this time. There is a school in my town where a man is holding at least 50 kids at gunpoint right now as we speak, and possibly teachers as well. Our entire police station is there, but this has been going on for the last 4 hours, and who knows how long it is going to drag on...so please everyone, say a Prayer for everyone and their families and the children's safety. I babysit a little girl who's sister goes to this school. Also, this is an elementary school. |
omg... im praying they are all safe very soon. what does the man want???? |
 That's terrible! We absolutely will be praying for their safety! Please keep us updated! |
My family and I will pray for god to surround them with angels and no harm will come to anyone. |
I can't find anything about this on the news and I AM IN TEXAS!!! I want to know what is happening!!!! Please keep us posted |
I wish we knew.... Quote:
I don't know all the details of it yet, but somehow they got some of the kids bussed off to another local school (the school where my nephew goes, it is a juinor high school) and notified the parents of the situation and told them to pick those kids up there. However, there are still alot of kids that are trapped in the other school. Hubby and I drove by there (of course the street is blocked, and all of the surrounding streets, but we stopped at a gas station and watched for a little while) and all you see is nothing but cops walking around, parked police cars, and flashing lights...it is so sad :( I hope they can get that maniac out of there and get every single person in the school out safely with no harm done to anyone... |
Oh no! I am sending prayers for those poor babies' safety. Please keep up up to date! I haven't heard anything about it here. |
Oh lord!! Please lord keep them safe. |
How terrible. Praying for their safe release. |
Oh goodness! I'm hoping everything works out okay. Please keep us updated. I'm sure I'll be checking back every few minutes. |

There should be an update within the next 5-10 minutes. I will post as soon as I hear! |
Situations like these really make me nervous. We have an open campus in a residental area and a stair case at the back of the school going down to some houses. We're always concerned "if" something will happen. We had a situation one time since I've been there. IT SUCKS! The teachers are supposed to keep cool for the kids. When we really don't know what's going on it's hard to keep the calm. I'm keeping my thoughts with the families and kids. |
News is on News is coming on now. Will be back in a few with the update... |
Sigh.... Oh my Lord, the CRAZY @$$H0LE GOT AWAY!!!!  Here is what happened: At 4:00 p.m. one of the custodians saw a black male (around 14-20 years old ) wearing a white jersey with the number 8 on the back, white shorts, and white shoes that entered the cafeteria waving a gun around. The custodian immediately reported this and someone from the school's office called the police. They claim that within 1 minute police arrived at the scene, thinking that the gunman was still inside. Police were there for over 4 hours and searched the ENTIRE school, only to find that there was no longer any gunman in sight. Oh my God, you have GOT to be kidding me.... I cannot even believe this. So the freak got away. They still don't know exactly how he escaped. I don't understand it either as I drove by the school and the ENTIRE thing was SURROUNDED by police officers! What they are thinking is that somehow, within the 1 minute of them arriving at the school, the guy took off and ran. Who knows where the guy is now. How wonderful huh :D Thankfully, no one was hurt. I'm sure they will say something about it tomorrow as well, and of course if there is any new information I will post it as soon as I hear about it! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and Prayers! |
Thank God those children are safe! Of course how safe are they going to feel going to school now. I think it would be home school time for us. Thanks for the update! |
These types of stories make me so mad. What is going on in this world? What satisfaction can anyone possibly get out of harming children? I just don't understand. Thankfully no one was hurt in this incident, but if they don't catch this creep soon, he may try again and hurt someone the next time. It's all so sad. |
VERY Frusterating!!! I know what you both mean, it is VERY frusterating. I was supposed to babysit today (I used to have a small in-home daycare, now only keeping one little girl though) but her mom called early this morning and said that she is keeping her 8 year old home today (for obvious reasons...she is the one who goes to the school where the creep with the gun was), so she wouldn't be bringing the little girl I keep either because her 8 year old wanted someone there with her (the mom sleeps during the day because she works nights) because she said she was scared :( Anyhow, I told her that I didn't blame her one bit. I wouldn't of sent my child to school either. It just sickens me that this guy wasn't caught, and unless he commits a crime, he probably won't be. It's completely disgusting! For those of you who'd like to view it, here is the article on the story in our local paper online. Of course you'll notice there are a few details that are different in the article from what I said. I got my info from the local news, and the local news and the paper ALWAYS says different things!  Link To Story |

P.S.- I'm only an hour and 1/2 from Austin (my hubby and I went on our honeymoon there...does THE DRISKILL HOTEL sound familiar? LOL :p :p), so you may hear something about this on your local news. San Antonio usually reports just about EVERYTHING that happens here, so you may hear something about it in Austin  |
I work at an elementary school in the town where this occured. Our assistant principal told me that the man entered the building. A custodian stopped him to ask him what he was doing there and he walked away from her. She went to call 911. It was probably during this phone call that he left the building but no one saw him leave. Very scary situation. There was no hostage situation since everyone was evacuated. How can this happen in one of our ELEMENTARY schools? What was he doing there? No one can answer these questions since he was not found. The school was searched twice. First by regular police and the second time, by the SWAT team. |
This is so upsetting!!! I hate to hear stories of this. Okay, how did a young man get a gun......I know it is easy, but haven't they gotten more restrictive on getting a gun? AND why an elementary school? (or anywhere for that matter)? Do they have any idea of who this boy was and what the motive was? This is another reason why I am very glad and fortunate to have made the choice (and be able to) homeschool my daugther! People like this really worry and scare me......and the sad part is, it can be anyone.....people that you would never suspect of doing something like this! I am just greatful that no one was hurt......and I hope they catch this guy before he can do harm! |

Oh yes the Driskill! Such a wonderful hotel!!! I didn't get to watch the 6:00 news so I don't know if they reported it here or not - I haven't read the paper yet today either! :( I need to get caught up! I'm just so thankful that everyone is safe. Makes me wonder though - my daughter teaches in an elementary school in Round Rock  |
