I'd be happy to live ANYWHERE with the word BEACH in it. I'd go for it and just enjoy - you said it was temporary right ? You'll never know till you try ...and you can always have your parents over to visit - the house sounds big enough to have lots of company :) |
thanks! i really want to go and so does my husband but my parents are only seeing the negative. we live in va i wish i could have my parents join us in ca but they would not do that. |
My first husband went to Cal State Long Beach so I spent alot of time up there... Its not a bad town at all!! Its the BEACH!!!! As anyone who lives in a BEACH City can tell you Yes its got its extremes... the homeless.... because the weather is so fricken amazing you can live there even without a home!!!:D and the uber rich, those are the folk who own the land along the beach! lol Its pricy to live in a beach city mainly due to the RENT AND HOUSING COSTS! But if thats paid.... You are daft if you don't go and live it up while it lasts! No offence intended... Parents are parents, I would not want my child running off to earthquake country either, and I would do all I could to talk them out of it, Mostly cause I would miss them like crazy!!! So take it with a grain of salt and make your own choice, mom and dad will get over it! You have only this one go around... make the most of it!! Everyone should live at the beach at least once! And as far as those earthquakes go.... every state/area has its natural disaster threat.... the earthquakes are not all that bad.... I've been through a ton of them... if the big on hits... thats another story.... but if a nuclear bomb hits that too is another story, or if the sun falls out of the sky, or if we had another ice age, or the whole global warming killed all of our plants!!! Wow, now that would be something!!! lol I used to lose sleep worrying about the "Big one" but its silly... it may not happen in my life time... it may happen as I'm typing... me worrying about it will not make it happen any sooner or later... so I gave up... Thank god its not hurricanes or tornados!! they happen alot more often!!! GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!! And then invite me out, I'm only 2.5 hours away! ;) |
i live 40 mins from long beach. traffic is bad in LA, not so bad in long beach though.. theres traffic everywhere though! as for earthquakes.. i dont think we've had any for a year or two could be more. i like it in cali :) the beaches are awesome. hope you decide to stay in long beach! |
It's not as bad as it sounds!! I live by Huntington Beach and Long Beach is maybe 10 minutes away. I'm sure there are the bad sections of the city but most of what I've seen so far is nice! |
I have been in Calif. all my life. The beach area is nice, weather is perfect, and you find all kinds of people, no matter where you live. I think it would be a wonderful experience. We go to the beach for a weeks vacation and have to pay for it ourselves, if you decide not to go, let us know, I am sure you can find someone here to take your place!lol The earthquakes are few and far between and not many in that area. At least we don't have "earthquake seasons", and life is very enjoyable here in Calif. If you like people, because we are the sunshine state, a lot of people come here. Enjoy your adventure! |
I lived in Huntington Beach and Newport Beach(South of Long Beach.) I am familiar with Long Beach and I got to say that there are some nice areas and some not so nice areas. If you are going to be by the beach, then you are one lucky girl. Traffic can be bad, but not terrible. Depends on your commute. The weather is fantastic and there are tons of places to explore. The restaurants are great, and you will never be bored. I say go ahead girl. You can always mive back if you don't like it. I live in the bay area now, I miss Southern California and the beach lifestyle a lot. I would move back in a heartbeat. |
Thank you for all your information!! im excited i am hoping that all goes well and we can go!!!! |
