Needing suport. Looking at puppies. Okay guys. it's not been long since Lily'd been gone. and my Pastor Raymond and my huband want me to go look at some puppies that a friend of his had. they're paplion and welsh corgi. not as tiny as Lily. but going to be small. I quess. adopt fee is nothing. they're 14 weeks old. aslo to look at purebred pom in 6 weeks as they're not bron yet. no papers and have no shots and $100. adopt fee. not sure if I'm ready. I agreed to look and aslo to go to some counsecling as I'm still pretty fragile about my injuries and about lily's passing. I miss Lily. it's a constant burn.. but would sort like to find a small healthy sweet dog to hold and cuddle. okay all pros and cons please. please.. my family including my Pastor believes looking if not finding a young pup. but not having ti have the large needs Lily had. would be good for me and for the youngster. {locally I cannot find a yorkie under $1500.} and right now. I'd rather wait and find a yorkie thru a YT breeder in Januray. please be gentle as is I'm shaking in my shoes and leaving in a hour to look at the pap mixes. |
I am sorry for the loss of lilli, you should go look at the pups. If you have your heart set on a yorkie, then wait untill you can get one. It sounds like you have amazing help and support. You know in your heart what you would like, so follow your heart and do what feels right:) i wish you all the best in your decision |
I can only imagine how devastating the loss of Lily still is to you. I would go look at the puppies and if one speaks to your heart and you feel this pup can help you heal, then go for it. If not and you really want another Yorkie, then hold off. I wish you all the best to you. |
I'm with Jodie, just go and let your heart talk to you....:) |
I think just seeing these puppies (regardless of whether or not you take one) will be good for you. Don't rush into if it doesn't feel right, but I think looking will help heal your heart. (as a side note - I've never seen a Corgi-papillon cross before, but Corgis are FANTASTIC dogs. I had two pembroke welsh corgis growing up and they were both hearty, healthy dogs and lived to be 13 and 14. I would definitely recommend a purebred Corgi if you decide to look again :) ) |
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I know the struggle that you are going through. Right after Phoebe died I came home from the vets office and said that is it no more. I am done. I felt as though my heart had literaly been ripped out of my chest and that there was this gaping empty hole. Several days later I had a melt down and told my husband and my girls that I could not do it, that I needed another Yorkie. So my search began. I will also tell you that I was so afraid because I did not want to end up with a puppy that had a lot of health problems and me just filling my emptiness. I did research and lots of it. When you are truly ready to fill that hole in your heart there will be another Yorkie there waiting just for you. But in the mean time don't turn down a chance to get puppies kisses. :p |
All I can is go with your heart, Best wishes and Good luck. Let us know. |
I am so sorry for your loss. I too, lost a loved companion just 2 months ago. I believe that if you go look it will help to heal. I still can't look at a red doxie without tearing up and my stomach knotting. but I have Chewie, my yorkie and his hugs and kisses do make it better. Good luck, just follow your heart. Debbie |
I, personally, would wait for a Yorkie, but everyone is different. When I lost my Pomeranian many, many years ago every time I looked at Pom puppies I got so upset I couldn't even hold one. A breeder suggested I look at Yorkies, well all is history, I bought my first Yorkie and have had Yorkies ever since. They are really amazing dogs. When I lost my beloved Lacy, I bought another Yorkie. No he didn't replace Lacy, but he is very special to me and definitely got me to smile again. I didn't even want to get out of bed in the morning (severely depressed), but it all changed when I had someone else who needed me. On this forum, we hear so much about illnesses in Yorkies, but all, but one of mine have been extremely healthy and all have been under 5 pounds. |

You asked for pros and cons... I'm not sure what injuries you have but it might be difficult to clean up after and train a little puppy if you have really bad injuries. If cleaning up accidents isn't an issue with you, then go for it. If it is you might want to consider finding an older dog who is trained. If you need a shoulder to lean on we at YT will always be here for you. We all know how you feel. Good luck to you. I have been to WV and it's a VERY beautiful place to live... The car rides though the mountains can be very therapeutic. |
Went and looked at the pap mixes. I wasn't going to go but my Pastor Bless him is a tricky man. they brought the puppies to see me instead of me to them. {He says he knew I wouldn't go. so they came here. } All are adoreable and very high engery. Just about leaping everywhere. Mom's a dainty and saintly glowing white with long hair and such pretty eyes. the first dog I've seen since Lily not afraid of my chair. She graciuosly allowed me to have her in my lap while we looked at her beaitful kids. one girl white with a tan half face with semi longish hair. and four strapping boys. tan with corgi faces. Little Miss as everyone calls her is a whopping 2 plus pounds { she's a lite weight compared to her brothers.} not shy,at all and very very sassy. the boys quite quickly decided everywhere in the house needed to be explored. very a avengence. nothing was left unturned. not sure what to say. the Mom really did a number on me. but so did Little Miss. both are very sweet and cuddly. and not fragile anywhere. I let the Pastor and my husband and Ms. Matthems to talk me into babysitting Little Miss and her brother Bop"em {my husband really likes him} for a couple of days since I'm out of work til next Monday. truly confused and lonely Quote:

I am glad to see you posting. After my last Yorkie Gracie, died at 6 1/2 I was so devastated. I started looking at Yorkies but my heart just wasn't into it but it helped to go looking and hold puppies. Well my husband and dtr went and got a Pomeranian puppy. i love Maya but she was not the Yorkie I wanted. After 8 years with no Yorkie, I finally decided to get a 2nd dog and got Cali. I am so glad I did. I would go look and your heart will tell you what is the right one for you. You can always get one now and get a Yorkie later. After having 2 dogs at the same time I will always have 2 dogs from now on. Good luck and keep us posted. You are in my thoughts and prayers. |
