Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh What an evening, i took Duke and Duchess down to the local park this evening as i thought it would be quiet. I have only ever let them off their leashes three times in their whole lives. Due to the fact that im scared of other dogs attacking them. My partner got them a new ball and frisbee so i was delighted when we got there to find the park empty. I let them off their leads we had great fun, they loved being free. Then this car arrives in the car park and this woman opens her boot and these 2 german shepards come running through the gate into the field unleashed. The woman just stays at the car locking it up, while these 2 dogs are coming straight at us. I managed to pick Duchess up and partner grabbed Duke. They were jumping up barking trying to get my babies, and i was shouting for the woman to come and get her dogs. Eventually after what seemed like a lifetime she came running over and put them on their leads, i had a massive go at her for being so irresponsible, and told her that they could have hurt or even killed my dogs if me and partner hadn't picked them up in time. YOU KNOW WHAT SHE SAID??????? YOU SHOULDN'T BRING LITTLE RATS LIKE THAT DOWN HERE, THEY DON'T NEED EXERCISE  I cant repeat what i said to her  Anyway i have just wrote a letter to my village counciler asking for him to put notices up that dogs should be kept on leads unless its safe to let them off etc. So please guys keep your finges crossed it will take effect soon! Ok ive finished time to breathe and calm down  |
She said WHAT?!?!?!?! Oooohhh, that lady is lucky you didn't slap her! :p :p :p Some people are just plain ignorant. Hopefully she stepped in some dog doo at the park. :D |

What a b*tch!! I would have been livid! |
wow, some people can be just so plain rude! we dont have a dog park in my area but I have no idea what I would do if we did. |
Why do people make references to yorkies being rats anyway. Thats not the first time I have heard that and they dont look anything like a rat. |
I have no idea why yorkies are reffered to as rats, i guess its coz they are small  but it is horrible  . Im so fed up of never being able to let my babies off their leads, they need exercise like all dogs. I just hope the local council will help out :hands: |
devoted to Lucy! What a shame that you can't enjoy your babies in the park! I can't believe she called them rats! I think you showed admirable restraint by not kicking her butt for her!:p :p Good luck with the leash law Kim and Lucy:aimeeyork |
Oh my, I would have gave her a piece of my mind. And I bet you gave her a good ear full good for you. I glad your babies are o.k |

People are so stupid sometimes the nerve of her your dogs have every right to be there to it's called a dog park not a big dog only park! |
OOOOOHhHhh NO I would have been sooooo pissed!!!!!That lady is lucky that all that was exchanged was words!!!!! Some people are just so damm ignorant |
What nerve calling them rats! I'm glad you told her off. Please let us know if the council does anything about her...they need to. I hope they ban her from the park. |
Thanks everyone, she is lucky i didn't hit her:mad: ,the counciller is bringing it up at the next council meeting so fingers crossed a leash rule will come into place,i wil keep you all posted  |
OMG!!! I would have slapped that bitch silly!! And I am NOT even joking!!  :thumbdown |
How dare she!! In NYC we have leash laws that require all dogs to be on a leash while in public, at all times, regardless of size. Also, we have some dog parks that are for specific size ranges of dogs. Maybe, if you come from a small town with only one dog park, your council can designate days for certain size dogs. That way everyone gets a chance to exercise without the danger of being attacked or having small dogs together with big dogs. As for her comment about the rats, she's lucky you didn't knock some teeth out of her mouth!! |
I am so sorry you had to go through that!! I don't know why people don't respect the fact that yorkies like and need excercise as well. They have RIGHTS too!!!!! I am glad you told her off!!!!!! The nerve calling your babies rats!!!!! |

Second...I have a big lab and german sheppard and they are well behaved and stay right next to me!!! It shows the lack of training and responsibility on her part! :thumbdown People like this give us big dog owners and big dogs a bad rap! That is nonsense!!! Third......that is why I am not a big fan of dog parks...and, er, parks in general....you have so many different pets and people there and they all think they are right and know best when it comes to their dog AND your pets well being too! I just don't find them safe! Lastly, I think that is a good idea (quote above). If nothing else, there should be designated days for certain sized pets.....even though, it shouldn't come down to that because everyone should have enough common sense to train and handle their own pets and respect the safety and well being of the other animals at the park. Stupid people like this really piss me off! Please keep us posted on what happens! Good luck and keep your babies safe! |
