To My Grown Child I found this today as I was cleaning out some old office files and thought I would share....... To My Grown-Up Child My hands were busy through the day I didn’t have much time to play The little games you asked me to I didn’t have much time for you I’d wash your clothes. I’d sew and cook But when you’d bring your picture book And ask me please to share your fun I’d say: “ A little later, hon.” I’d tuck you in all safe at night And hear your prayers, turn out the light Then tiptoe softly to the door I wish I’d stayed a minute more For life is short, the years rush past A little child grows up so fast No longer standing at your side With precious secrets to confide The picture books are put away There are no longer games to play No goodnight kiss, no prayers to hear That all belongs to yesteryear My hands, once busy, now are still The days are long and hard to fill I wish I could go back and do The little things you asked me to! Somebody nailed it right on the head. They do grow up way too fast. I like that poem. |
I did too....it really made me stop and think! I swear, I am always in a rush these days! I should really stop and/or slow down to enjoy our time together more! So true!!! |
Sure makes you stop and think. My oldest is 22 and I really wish I could have spent more time with him. I am a teacher and my 9 year old is in my classroom - so I think as far as SHE is concerned - we're doing okay for now!!! LOL! |
That is a great message!! I have little people at home and think I better slow down. Thanks!!!!!!!!! |
