Air Purifier??? Can someone recommend a really good air purifier? I have been having tons of allergy asthma problems the past month and I am fed up. This month is supposedly the worst month ever for allergens and pollens and even though I dont go outside that much I know they can still get in the house and Im hoping an air purifier might help. Does anyone know? |
i use an air purifier everynight, its in my bedroom, not only does it help me breath, i sleep with the noise it makes... i just need that noise.. i think the name is holmes. but mine is a big one and sits right behind my pillow on the ledge of the wall unit..(bed unit) |

Does it use a filter? Do you have to change it alot? |
unfortunately yes it has a filter and your supposed to change it when it gets a certain color, but i havent yet... the filters are around 60 bucks and then shipping and crap... i paid around 129dollars for it a long time ago...i really should change the filter, but i mainly use it for the noise.. |

Thank for the info. The reason I was asking is I had a small purifier that I didnt change the filter on and it broke on me. I dont mind changing the filter but they can be hard to find sometimes. |
I also have asthma and raise birds (what a combination). I paid the big bucks for the Sharper Image ones that you don't ever have to replace the filter on, just wash off the metal collection plate. |

Where did you buy it from or where can I find it at? and has it helped your allergies?:) |
i originally bought it at caldors now you know how old that is... mine is still working fine, dont know why, it just wont die on me... you gotta go online for the filters... |
shana, go on line under air filters, you will find it there. also try k-mart or target, they might have it too... or the sharper image if you want to pay a fortune.. they do work though... |

Go to www.sharperimage.com and look at them and then go to Ebay and they sell their returns for a cheaper price. They are expensive, but since I raise parrotlets (world's smallest parrots) I have many in my house. The other air purifiers I had purchased didn't help and I was on allergy meds plus having to go get breathing treatments, plus listen to everyone nag about me getting rid of my birds, but these allow me to keep my birds, no breathing treatments, no daily medications, and I have only had a few asthma attacks (which use to last for several days) and as soon as my husband cleaned the "filter" I was fine within hours. |

Thank you so much I am going to look into the Hybrid GP™ Germicidal Air Purifier by shaper image, is that the one you have? |
If you own your own home, the best thing to do is get an electric air filter on your furnace and a ultra violet light that kills viruses, bacteria, etc. they work great. I have them on my furnace at home because I have really bad allergies, sinsus, and asthma problems. They've made a world of difference. I work for a heating a cooling company so I can get them at cost and it was well worth it. Just a thought. You dont change any filters and it works great!! it comes on when the a/c and furnace comes on. :) |
Sorry, don't have one but looks like you've been given some great suggestions to start with. Best of luck and I hope your allergies clear up soon! |
