Gina, keep it up...don't go back to smoking!! If you slip up and smoke, don't take it as defeat. Just start over again. My BF and I both quit smoking in February when my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. She only got to fight for 3 months before it took her. So please stay on that wagon. It's hard to be 27 years old and motherless. So do it for your family and do it for yourself. My mom was not ready to leave us.:unlove: I don't mean to sound preachy...I know how hard it is. But the loss is still really fresh for me. Smoking baaaaad! Gina Gooood!:good job: |
If you're serious about quitting, get off that gum, and go on the patch! :p |
felicia, so sorry aboutyour mom,,,i have tears in my eyes... im trying, im not feeling too good right now... that gum bothered me, i spit it out. . |
Did you get some lollipops last night? Pop one of those in your mouth! :p |
no, but just went outside to the ice truck and got a lemon ice, so im eating it right now. . |
Thanks, I have a long road ahead. My dad actually bought me my Daphne with some of the money my mom left. She had it hid in a drawer and the day my dad decided to help me get a yorkie, the money fell out of the bottom of the drawer!!! I was EXACTLY enough to get Daphne  I like to think it was my mom's way of getting me the one last gift!:wilted_ro Try regular ice too. I sit at my desk with a HUGE mug full of ice all day...the crunching irrates the coworkers but it's better than the alternative!!!:D :D And I love ice now...I don't snack so I'm losing weight:secret: ...and I'm staying hydrated and getting more and more used to drinking water! That's always good for the girlish figure!!:p |
Gina, how did you do last night? Are you still smoke-free?! |

YAY, Gina! :clapsmile Way to go! :good job: :bravo: I'm so proud of you! :cheer: You could have smoked that whole pack and you didn't! That takes a lot of will power, and you did it!   I've never been a smoker, but I would be willing to bet almost anything that the symptoms you are describing are from not smoking. You are most likely having withdrawals. If you stop anything you are addicted to, be it alcohol, smoking, drugs, caffine, anything, you are going to have some withdrawal symptoms. Don't freak out. As hard as it may be, just let them pass. You freaking out last night and your chest being heavy was probably an anxiety attack. This happened to my very best friend in the whole world when she stopped smoking. She said that this anxiety attack made her never want to smoke again! She has been smoke-free now for 6 months! I know you can do it, too!! Has it been 3 whole days now? They say that the third day is always the hardest. Just think...you are OVER the hardest part! The rest will just get easier. Now, the question is, what did you do with that pack of ciggies after you just smoked 1?! :D You really are a role model for everyone here that is trying to quit. I really look up to you! :p |
they are in my safe, but im gonna try to not think about them... you know i get so bored at night and dont know what to do with myself. usually when i got bored i would smoke... its just a habit and its all in my head really.. im not in a good mood anymore, i feel bad cause my poor b/f dont know if he is coming or going... he just asked me is everything allright with us... i felt so bad... and he quit too and he is fine... i told him , he is always so busy and he can do it.... he goes home, goes to the gym, goes to get dinner, cooks it and by that time, its almost bed time.. me, i go home right away cause i have lexi otherwise i would be galavanting.. i give her hugs and kisses, feed her, walk her and thats it, back in the house...i dont wanna clean, i dont want to do a dam thing cause im so tired. and i look like s**t |

It's easier said than done, but hang in there!!!! Get your bf to come over in the evenings and ya'll cook dinner together! Yall can be each other's support system. He will completely understand that you are in a bad mood bc you quit smoking. Tell him you just need some time to get over it. He will understand. I promise. |
he is leaving me alone tonight... i think i drove him nuts yesterday... i was up all night, didnt sleep one bit.... he felt bad he thought i couldnt sleep cause he was there, he was gonna leave at 3am to go home.. he also told me listen gina, if you really cant do this, then its ok but remember every cigarette takes 5 minutes off your life.. he is right.. |

http://quitsmoking.about.com/mpboards.htm You can do it girl, don't give up on YOURSELF! There is some good support groups online. I'm telling you go buy commit at Walmart.about 40 bucks, it is nicotine replacement product ,mgr. by niccorette. It worked for me. It will take away the cravings. Bitchyness, insomnia, all of it. I just went back and read ,throw that pack away and keep going. |
is it gum? cause i have nicorette gum and its making me sick.. |
I just saw this thread. Gina I am sooooo proud of you girl!!:bravo: :clapsmile Hang in there, you can do this. I have been struggling with my husband for 2 years now to get him to quit. He actually quit for a whole 3 months over the summer last year but as soon as he went back to work (he's a 6th grade teacher) he started all over again. I was so disappointed in him. I know its hard, my mom smoked for 20 years and quit cold turkey. One day she said no more and dumped the cigs she had and never went back. I know its not so easy for everyone. I bought hubby the nicorette gum and he hated it but it did curb some of the urges. I went through hell with him that first week. He was moody, couldn't sleep, very grouchy and was blaming me for him feeling like crap. After the first week it got a bit easier though. |
By the way, did you know you can call 311 and they can help you. They have a hotline for people trying to quit smoking and I think they even send you free stuff to help you quit. You should check it out. |
i have tried 311 many times and nothing happens from my area.. |
That sucks. i guess you have to be in the nyc area... how many days has it been so far for you? Hubby is really thin but he put on a few pounds in the months that he quit. I would recommend you get lots of fat free snacks in the house so that if you get in the mood to pick, it won't do much damage. its great that your BF is so supportive. No matter how much he barked at me, I didn't take anything personally when hubby was going through his withdrawals. I knew it was a hard time for him. With his support and understanding, you will get through it. and don't forget Lexi. She's mommy's number one fan.;) When you get antsy, take Lexi for a walk and burn off that energy. |
THANKS necee, im trying my best... my b/f wants me to go out for a little while tonight just to get outta the house, i told him to go with his friends cause 1 drinik im gonna want to smoke without a doubt... so im staying home and getting to sleep early... .. |

True it is a habit, but a Very strong addiction also. Gina, commit is a lozenges, you put it in your mouth when you get a craving. Don't suck on it or it will make you sick. At first it will burn alittle but it goes away. Good luck, keep up the good work! |
