Saying goodbye to my son! Kind of ironic it is 9/11 and had to say bye to my oldest son he is going in the navy. I am very proud but very scared for him too. I am in tears cause I dont know how to deal with the idea that I cant call him or he cant come and visit for dinners, Jackies (his sister) soccer games, special ocations, ect. We had a big going away party for him today and all went really well till he said goodbye. Thank god everybody had gone home cause I lost it and got all emotional (well we both did). Gave him plenty of stamps, calling cards, envelopes, adress books ECT. Make sure he can get a hold of us! I understand thier are a lot of other people out thier that are in my shoes and have been there for quite some time. I thought I understood but I didnt. It is VERY hard to let go and realize your baby is all grown up, but boy your baby going in or being in the service at this time is scary. You try to put on a good "Tough" front, but I am no good at that when it comes to this. I never knew it would be this hard! I just hope he realizes how much his mushey, mom loves him. Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulders! -----All you moms and dads out there with kids in the service, Be proud, And cherish every moment you have with them, And trust they will be safe, I know I will. Bless you, Cindy! And I'll add your son to my prayer list. I have one nephew (Army) who has just returned from Iraq. Another nephew (Marine) who went to Iraq, came back, went to sniper school, and is now in those scary mountains of Afghanistan, looking for Osama. Don's son, my stepson, is career Army, as Don was, and is currently stationed in Virginia. I sure hope he doesn't have to go overseas, but he probably will. He was in the first Desert Storn and in Haiti, among other duties. My Don served 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam (in helicopters), and a tour in Korea. My first husband served as a Navy officer aboard a destroyer. My son was a Marine for several years, over 20 years ago. I have such chest bursting pride in my military family and ALL military families. Big, big hugs to you for letting him go...... And you just come here and cry anytime you feel like it! |
We pray for his safety and appreciate his duty to his country! You should be very proud of your son. |
