Moving Soon My husband is a pilot in the airforce, and we will find out sept 15th where our next station will be our top 3 choices are Mcchord in Seattle Wa, Charelston in S.C. and Ramstine in Germany....i was wondering if any of you YTers out there lived in these places and had any recommendation or concerns about any of these places. We look at each move as an adventure, so no matter where we go it will be great but i just wanted some other information from ppl who have lived in these areas. |
Hi Laura, First let me say thank you to you and your husband!!!! My Husband is retired military. There are actually several on the list that live around the Seattle area. I happen to live on the other side of the mountains. We have temps in the triple digits here, but Seattle is a marine climate. I have traveled around over my years and have never found a place quite so beautiful as WA state & the view of Mt. Rainer, not to metion the olympics from Seattle is breath taking. Good luck on your transfer |
Passionfruition lives in Charleston! I have spoken with her about the area a few times since I'm job searching and she loves it! Good luck with your move :) |
moving I vote for Charleston, SC..what a wonderful old southern city...friendly people and a decent climate. It is wonderful to see the world, so Germany would be an adventure..good luck |
My husband was stationed at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany, close to Ramstein. He loved Germany and said Ramstein is an awesome base. I hope things work out for you wherever you go! |
My hubby is in the Air Force too! We are stationed at McConnell in Kansas. Where all have you been stationed at? This is our 1st base & we've been here 4 years. Good luck on your move!:) |
I have been living in the Seattle area for the last three years. We moved here from Texas. Washington is absolutely beautiful, Seattle is a gorgeous city and summer here is terrific. However...I have yet to get used to the rain, but I hear people who have always lived here never get used to the rain either. Sea Fair was this weekend, and there just couldn't have been a better weekend for it!! Lots to see and do in Seattle and all around Washington. I have yet to go visit dozens of places that I keep trying to get to see. I think if you come here, you will like it...but the winter and the rain can get to be a bit much at times. Wherever you go, good luck to you both!!! |
My sister-in-law went to college at College of Charleston in SC and LOVED it. We went to visit her several times and it is such a NEAT city! I would love to live there myself! How long will you be stationed? It would be a great experience to live in another part of the world for awhile. |
I'm from Germany and if you have any questions just let me know! :aimeeyork |
Good luck making a decision. A huge thank you is in order for both you and your husband for your efforts to help make this nation a safer place to live. |
I live in Myrtle Beach, which is about 1 1/2 hours away from Charleston, and I have spent many a weekend getaway there. It is an absolutely beautiful old southern town, there is so much to do there, and everyone is incredibly friendly! plus you are only about an hour from Savannah, GA which is gorgeous! I spent memorial weekend there this past year and it is breathtaking! So my vote is Charleston! |
