Another fabulous portrait!!! You do such great work.

This may be a dumb question, but what is the difference between a graphite portrait and a black & white pencil drawing?

A graphite portrait is a black and white pencil drawing. The pencils I use are graphite pencils that have a very wide range from hard to soft. I use the pencils that are from 8h (hard) to 8B (soft). You have to use very smooth art paper. I use Strathmore Bristol smooth 100lb. paper. 2B is my favorite pencil. Regular pencils don't give you the variety the graphite pencils do. That's really the only difference. I also use charcoal, but prefer the graphite pencils. I hope that helped and did not confuse you more LOL.
P.S. I also use conte' which are pastels. The range from black to white with every color in between. They are a chalk like substance. Here is a Pastel portrait I posted the other day.

Thanks that was very helpful. I just love your portraits and am going to get one for myself one of these days. I'm trying to decide which type I want and then I want Sissy's hair to get a little longer first. Thanks!

Very Good Indeed!!!! He is Such a doll when he smiles!!!! But he said NO WAY!!! If we were doing a portrait of him for the wall.... It was going to be serious!!! Thats 14 years old for you!!! He thinks he's hot S@#T! lol Who am I to tell him different?? At 14.. I was too!!! lol

I have sent her pictures of my other two children!!! I can't wait to see them!!!! I'm so excited!!!

I have decided that I am having her do my entire family!!!! Dogs Kids Adults.... Bird!! And then the extended Family!!! What an amazing Picture wall this will make!!! Don't you think??? I need to find good frames!!! Any suggestions??? Not expencive ones!! lol The wall of Graphite is going to cost me plenty without the frames!! :D I am hoping for reasonable frames! hmmmm

Looks great, she really does great work...

I think simple black frames would really work well. Maybe even use white mats. That way you really focus on the picture not so much the frame. Even different styles of black frames if you didn't want it too simple. I was, at one time, collecting a bunch of different frames, at yard sales and thrift stores and such just as long as they were cheap, to frame our wedding pictures in. I was going to spray paint them all black so they would match, so really any frame would work for me. You could even do that. I never got around to doing it, now I've just given up on the whole idea.
