sticky situation :wavey: Hi All: I have a sticky situation.....a neighbor has just had a baby. I don't really know her and her boyfriend except she goes crazy over my 2 Yorkies when we pass buy. They have told me to come over to see the baby.....I like them but feel a little uncomfortable being that (I really don't even know their names). I really hate to go any where empty handed but don't really want to run to a store to buy "something". Any recomendations on what to do....buy...don't buy.....go....don't go. I have been having a wacky couple of weeks ......so every thing I do truns out like poop (the smelly kind:eek: ). If they asked me to be Godmother I wouldn't know what to do (not really thinking that would happen but that's the kinda luck I've been having) Thanks in advance Tina :aimeeyork Pucci :aimeeyork GiGi |
Oh I think it would be okay to just stop by (empty handed). If anything to ooh and ahh at the new baby :) |
I would stop in since they've asked you and offer your congratulations. I would also take a gift, but something small since you don't know them well. How about a little stuffed yorkie? I just bought one for a friend's daughter's birthday from Target - it come in a little carrier!! That way you are sharing something of you with them, rather than just any old gift!! Don't be too hard on yourself - we've all had those times when life is poop (the smelly kind)!!! This, too - shall pass! |
I've always found that bringing food, like a dish of lasagna or a crockpot of chili is always appreciated by new parents. It's not easy to be cooking or eating well when your a first time parent with a newborn. Plus, the things to make these dishes are usually in the pantry anyway... believe me, they'll LOVE it. Hope this helps! |
:wavey: Thanks guys: I think if I can get out early enough I'll pick up a stuffed animal for the baby...if I have to much to do in the morning I'll just stop over to see the baby and pick something up later. I would love to cook for them but being single I don't really cook large amounts of food except for salad...although I did think of wine or a bottle of coke and some chips (but I don't want to make them feel I want to stay and eat). I should really get over there tomorrow late morning. Thanks again :) Tina :aimeeyork Pucci :aimeeyork GiGi |

Buy a present and go. It doesn't have to be much. Think how good you feel when she fusses over your yorkies. We'll she just wants the same thing. Knock on the door, when she answers say Hi, By the way, my name is****, I don 't believe I know yours. She may turn out to be a good friend, and it's also good to be friendly to neighbors. You might need her to dog sit some day. |
My neighbor, who I havent really been formally introduced to, (just a "hey" or "good morning" to) recently had a baby. I got her some swaddlers by pampers & some diaper cream & wrapped it up...it wasnt expensive & she appreciated something practical she could use. |
Welcome gift I vote for the practical gift as well. Diapers or wipes sound great to me. Since you don't know her, you don't have to worry about if its the right color or will she like it or not. Good luck!:) |
I always buy the mom a gift. :) Something relaxing she can pamper herself with. I figure they'll get tons of baby stuff from other people. I thinking taking some food is a great idea also. Just stop buy and say I'm so sorry but at this moment your names just escape me. I'm bad at names.... you ate to ask but what can you do? |
I agree. Buy a small gift and go see the baby. The Yorkie idea is GREAT! |
