I am SICK SICK SICK to my stomach after reading this article on CNN!! The mother and her partner should have their fat asses locked up!! How disgusting!! :thumbdown :mad: How could they sit down to a meal while their daughter is starving to death right in front of them?? OMG this is so awful.

Emaciated Girl, 9, Found In Filthy Diaper

ST PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- A woman and her roommate were charged with starving the woman's 9-year-old daughter, who weighed just 42 pounds when she was found, was locked up all day and was forced to wear a filthy diaper, authorities said.

Melissa Samoraj, 27, and Raymond LaFountain, 31, were arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated child abuse.

The girl was so emaciated that her spine and ribcage were showing when state child welfare officials took her June 30, police said.

The girl also had her hands bound behind her, was locked in a bedroom all day and wore a diaper that went unchanged for hours, officials said. She told police it was punishment for bad behavior.

"It's a very disturbing case," police Detective Joe DeLuca said. "You see very few like this."

The girl now lives with her grandparents and has gained about 25 pounds in a month.

"She's doing well now," DeLuca said.

LaFountain's mother reported the girl's appearance after visiting the home, DeLuca said. It's not clear how long the alleged abuse had been going on, police said.

Samoraj and LaFountain were in a Pinellas County jail Thursday, each held on a $50,000 bond. DeLuca said they did not address the allegations when they were arrested Wednesday, and jail records did not indicate if they had lawyers.

LaFountain was originally described by police as Samoraj's live-in boyfriend, but the gender classification at the jail was changed from male to female following a routine strip search, Pinellas sheriff's spokesman Mac McMullen said.

God bless her heart...maybe now she will find peace and someone that will love and take care of her like she deserves....& I hope her mother & friend pay dearly.....:(

They\'re both trash. How could someone sit back and watch a little girl starve to death? How could someone do that?? It\'s inhumane!! :mad:

I am glad the the Grandma did something about it. There are so many cases where they don\'t.

I hope they throw the book at them!! How the heck can a mother treat her child that way!! hopefully the little girl can now have some peace in her life. The need to put her mother in a cell with her hands bound and put in a diaper with no food and see how it feels. They also need to give her a hysterectomy so she cant have anymore children IMO.:mad:

My daughter is 9. I would give my life for her. This sickens me to think that a human being could be so cruel to their own flesh and blood.

I would definitely want the grandmother checked out too. I know it\'s not always the parents fault, but I wouldn\'t want a child raised by someone that raised a person like that.. That poor little girl I hope lives a wonderful life now.

What horrible physical and psychological cruelty that child went through. I hope she gets the help she will desperately need as she grows older....

Her mother should be thrown in a dark hole and never see the light of day....

I just can\'t even picture 42 pounds! I just don\'t understand how a mother can watch her child suffer let alone be the one who\'s causing the suffering! It just breaks my heart to think about it.... I can\'t stand to see my daughter hurt!

Her Pet Rat died last week and she was devastated... She cried and mourned.. it killed me!!! It was so awful watching my baby hurt like that!!! I just can\'t see how any mother would not have the natural reaction of wanting to protect their babies!

This woman is not a Mother.... She is a Monster! The title Mother is reserved for those of us who care for our young....

She\'s a MONSTER! God help her, she\'s headed straight for hell!
