Scary Movies.... I replied to the post about dreams and it got me thinking of scary movies I've seen. What horror movie do you think is the scariest? I'm just curious. I'd have to say The Ring. My family and friends didn't think so but boy was I up many nights after that one! I can't even watch Scary Movie 3 cause it makes fun of it. Gosh I'm a baby! :) |
I love horror movies...it is hard to scare me since I have seen so many! Years ago, "Psycho" kept me up all night..I watched it on a night my policeman husband was working. I tried to get my 5 yr old, Melisa to sleep with me and she wanted to stay in her bed..so I got in bed with her and she told me to "act like a mommie and go back to my own bed!!!"..I have seen it so many times on TV and it is not scary compared to today's movies.. I thought the "Ring" and the "Grudge" were scary...I was at the beach a few weeks ago and a perfectly nice, Asian woman got flipped over by a wave..she came crawling out of the water with her wet hair in her face...I had a flashback to both movies..LOL |
Oh my! I would have freaked out!!!! When I was younger I could handle scary movies better but nowadays I get so scared. |
Scary movies don't scare me that much. They do give me nightmares right after I watch them, but I can't even remember them in a week. On the other hand, David Lynch movies tend to horrify me beyond belief. Especially Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me. I still get the heebie-jeebies when I think about that movie. Thanks to that movie ceiling fans, transparent plastic stuff (such as shower curtains), houses on slopes, and caged birdies scare the hell out of me because they all remind me of the movie. Likewise, Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, and Eraserhead were some of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. Lynch's stuff is obscured artistic reality, and the way he chooses to portray certain traumatic parts of everyday life pokes me on a deep deep level. I've vowed to never watch his stuff again. Sorry, if this isn't what you were asking, but I thought I would share what scares me :) |
I've never heard of him. Hmmm...sounds scary though. I get like that with movies. Thanks to Final Destination I refuse to ride on an airplane. I told myself I wont watch the third one cause I love rollercoasters. |
has anyone else noticed the difference between horror movies now and even 5 years ago? I feel like every "horror" movie I have seen lately is just incredibly gory and focused more on violence than a psychological plot.... |
really, I don't find horror movies to be scary. I usually just laugh my butt off during them. Though...the gory-ness REALLY freaks me out. I think the scariest movie (plot-wise) that I've seen is Poltergeist. (just found out from my all-knowing mother ( ) that everyone who starrted in that movie died. that's a tad freaky.) |
Horror movies are the BEST!!! Love them...Just LOVE them!!! |
The exorcist is the scariest movie I've seen. Up to this date I can't watch the whole movie by myself. |

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was bothersome to some extent but it's extremely mild to The Exorcist! YIKES!!!!!!!!!! |

I don't watch scary movies any more and haven't since I got married and had to be home alone, acting like an adult!! The closest I come are the more psychological action films. I know, I'm a wimp! |
I love scary movies! The last one I saw was "The Omen." I love it! I can't wait until it comes out on dvd. :) |
Was it the new "Omen" you watched? The previews were freaky. I don't think I could watch that one but hubby said the old one was scary. |
This is not a scary movie - but the movie that scared me the most was In Cold Blood. I could not sleep for weeks, when I shut my eyes, all I could see was Robert Blake's eyes. I think because it was based on a true story made it so real to me that I was terrified. I just cannot watch the horror movies - so I've never really seen any of them. |

Yeah, it was the new one. I really liked it. :) |
[QUOTE=Zoey's Momma]I love scary movies! The last one I saw was "The Omen." I love it! I can't wait until it comes out on dvd. :) [/QUOTE Have you seen the original? that one is better than the remake and is on dvd already. |
I Love Scarey Movies And I would have to say The Ring totally freaked me out. Now I have not watched The Ring 2. I hate it when they totally ruin a movie by putting a second one out. However I am a big baby and get worked up watching SHARK WEEK on the discovery channel.:embar: |
Besides Gigli? j/k Halloween...hands down. Actually, I think the scariest thing I watch is Ghost Hunters.:( I also think some of the scariest movies are those that aren't really scary per say, but that have maybe one or two parts that are just kind of creepy and disturbing. Like The Blair Witch Project-not really scary to me, but the guy standing in the corner at the end just kind of stuck with me...for weeks I found myself looking in the corner to make sure someone wasn't there. Another is the part of Signs when he sees the reflection of the alien in the TV...I STILL will not watch this part...days after I was afraid to look at a turned off TV. |
I change my mind...DEFINATELY Silence of the Lambs the first time I ever watched it. I'm sorry, but if that didn't make you nervous and scare the mess out of you, you don't have a pulse! |
ok the ring was the worst thing i have ever seen it scared me so bad i still have haunting nightmares from it i can't even talk about it. for weeks after it freaked me out. my 5 yr old son had somehow set the sleep timer on his tv and at 3:00 am it would turn on and go to the snow screen and it was really loud i woke up out of a dead sleep to this sound like in the movie so it was evevn more trumatic.now i tried to watch ring 2 to see if it was a little happier ending and i had to end the movie on the good part i never watched the ending. Also another one that really disturbed me was the grudge i am so tramatized from these it's really sad i used to love scarry movies and things like the exorsist and halloween don't bother me it's this sick demmented stuff that people are making these days that really get to me. I think it's because i get so into the movies it's like it's real even though i know it's not but i can't seem to shake the images of these movies. I know this sounds dumb but i think they have made these movies to actually do this to people phycalogically damaging ya know what i mean. |

The first Ring freaked me out too. But the second one was stupid. well, not as good as the first one anyway. My friend and I watched it at her grandma's house one time. we were INCREDIBLY freaked out when it first started because of Ring 1, but it really wasn't scary. |
I HATE scary movies, can't handle them...when I was a kid, I remember the movie Poltergeist (the first one) freaking me OUT! I couldn't sleep by myself for 2 weeks after seeing that one. |

The most recent scary movie I saw was the remake of Amnityville Horror. My friend and I went to see it, and when I got home my boyfriend was coming over. After I dropped off my friend who lived up the street, I waited in my car outside my house until myboyfriend got there, I was to scared to even walk from the car to my front door by myself  |
