Work from home - Need your advice!!!!! I'm thinking to get a job to do from home because I don't want Mitzi to be alone for the whole day. Whenever I do a search on the internet I get a lot of hits that sound like a scam  . Has anybody here a job he/she is doing from home? Can you give me some advice how to find a good one? What should I look out for? Thanks in advance for your help! :aimeeyork |
Great question. I searched the Internet too and thought the same thing. I drive a school bus, so I'm home in between routes. I would like to make a little extra just to spend on me and the babies. |
I would try some of the parenting magazines. If you type and do data entry I would maybe put an ad in your paper that you will do temp work from home. My mom did that one time when she needed extra income and she did typing from home. The ones you see on the web you have to be careful of especially if they ask you to send them money. Always check with the BBB to see if there are any complaints against any company you may be cosidering. I would also maybe check some forums having to do with stay at home moms. There may be some information on there as well. I hope that helped you a lil bit!! |
Mitzi's mom -If you find anything then please let me know. I'm looking for extra income. I have a full time job but I would love something to do at home for second shift Crystal |
when I checked into working from home, all the jobs wanted you to pay a upfront fee! why on earth should you pay someone to work for them?? if it sounds to good to be true, it's to good to be true! |
Thanks for the input! It seams it's really 'a jungle out there'. My problem is also that I never worked in the USA (I'm from Germany) and all my degrees don't count here. The tip with the ad is a great idea. :aimeeyork |
Please let us know what you find i have small kids and would love a legitamate at home job there are so many scams out there! |
You might want to check with employment agencies in your area. Let them know that you are interested in working from home and to keep you in mind if they hear anything, especially if you can type really well and do transcription. Also, it really wouldn't hurt to send a resume to offices in your area. There are alot of times a company needs someone to do some typing from home. I feel fortunate to work in the evenings so I'm home all day. I work at a very large law firm which has a second shift, and I've been here for 20 years. I feel like I've had the best of both worlds, as I could still be home with my children while making extra money, and I didn't need a sitter because my husband works day shift and was home with them while I was at work.:) Best of luck to you!! |
I too have also looked at many work from home jobs but I havent found any I trust nor didnt have to buy the job. I am retired from accounting, which includes many aspects from accts payable to corp tax returns to whatever else they wanted me to do. I would enjoy a job working from home just to earn a little money to spend on my yorkies or whatever. I dont need to make a lot of money, mainly to give me something to do that I would enjoy doing. So I would be interested too if someone should find something legit. |

I started my own home-based business 10 years ago. I left my corporate job, then marketed my skills to those I used to work with. (I am a consultant). My suggestion is that you build on what you already know and market the people that you know. Find a niche that sets your services/products apart from the competition. If you can type, you might consider taking a medical transcription class or medical billing class and doing that. Both can be great home based opportunities. Be sure to price yourself competitively. One doctor I recently spoke with said they are now sending all of their dictation to India! Be cautious about any place that wants your money to help set you up, unless you are buying a franchise. Most states have links through the secretary of state's office for small businesses, or through the small business administration. The consultant I met with was with the small business administration. Do some google searches with those terms and your state. I met with a retired consultant who really helped me get set up, develop a business plan, etc. There are also small business loans and some are targeted just for women. PM me if you have any questions. |
