That is what makes it so hard when you get married is that we have to try to make it clear to each other. My husband was under the impression that when I stopped working it was my new JOB to pick up whatever he left laying around the house. I quickly let him know that I\'m not his mom and won\'t be doing that!
Another thing I learned from a communications class is to use "I feel statements" instead of "you" statements. Men can be really defensive and when they feel like they\'re being attacked they react. For instance if I told my husband "You make me mad when you don\'t do this." Instead say something like "When you don\'t pick up I FEEL unapprecaited." This has helped me out so much and has helped stop my husband and I from fighting over so much stuff. It\'s tough at first when you\'re not used to it. But men won\'t change just because we want them to, they have want to change. I hope he can understand how his actions make you feel. |
