vacation dilema the three of us are going to the poconos tonight for a few days, me, lexi , and my boyfriend, his mom has a house there.. the thing is, im so nervous, my stomach is in knots , im afraid of lexi peeing or pooping on the floor. his mom will be there this weekend and then coming home to ny on monday,,, this is just driving me insane... i will feel so so stupid if lexi does this, mortified is the right word.... its a pretty big house upstairs and down from what i heard... i guess i can put wee pads all over the place right? and as for the couches, his mom has a brand new leather couch she just bought and said just be careful lexi doesnt scratch it,, oh boy, now my stomach really hurts,, if anything, i'll just buy her another couch...my b/f said to stop worrying, but i cant, its not like its my moms house you know...he said shes gonna be fine. plus im limited to things to do up there.. oh well i will just relax then..... i will be following the whole time his mom is there worrying she wont do anything shes not supposed to do... its not gonna be fun for me... HELP!!!! |
Don't be so nervous Gina! Just put pee pads everywhere, and watch Lexi. At least try to enjoy yourself! You deserve a vacation! I bet Lexi will be a good girl just for you. :) :cool: Ps: Have some fun for me too. :) |
you cant imagine how i feel i just wanna cry,, im such a jerk... i really dont want his mom to hate me you know... she really likes me now. and i dont ever what anyone to not like lexi.. you know if she does pee or whatever, his mom is gonna think different about me.. she knows lexi is my life, but shes not really an animal lover like i am... and its difficult trying to explain it...my b/f knows how i am ..... he gets it... i just need to calm my butt down and worry about it if it happens. im jumping the gun as usual. |
What about putting little diapers on her? that way you'll be sure she doesn't go potty somewhere she isn't supposed to. |

thanks danielle... i'll be ok.... you know i did buy 2 diapers from a yorkie talker here.. forgot all about it. thanks kona.. the thing is , it falls off of her... they are really not made for females.... its adorable though, has a little skirt attached to it.. im gonna write myself a note not to forget it.. good thinking.... lexi hates it.. really hates it...she doesnt walk, she rubs on the walls to get it off and it falls off... |
Maybe try safety pinning it tighter around her waist, so if she does rub it against something..it wont fall off. :) |
Gina, if Lexi has a little accident ... so what? Pee and poop can be easily cleaned up! :) I have leather couches and my dogs jump all over them ... trust me sweetie, their nails aren't sharp enough to scratch it! How could his mom dislike Lexi? All you have to do is look at her little face and you're in love. So don't worry about it. Everything will work out fine. If you ever need someone to watch Lexi while you're away, you know you can always count on me. Don't worry about anything ... just go there and have fun!! |
aaaawwww jennifer thanks for that,, your so sweet, but the safety pin thing is another great one... thanks...wrote that down too. cant forget it now. the scratching of the couch worries me, and you know some people dont like animals on their furniture.... of course we dont mind. but i cant stop her from doing that... no way.... thats impossible..i wont stop her either,i just have to watch her like a hawk and thats gonna put a dammper on this whole trip.. well at least for a couple of days |
You could put a blanket down on the couch where she is sitting. I wouldn't worry too much, there is no way his mom won't love Lexi. Just enjoy the weekend away!! |
i mentioned a sheet on the couch and she was quite...and of course i felt stupid.... you know what,, whatever happens happens... i cant predict the future...soooooooooooooooo.... thats that.. |
All of our couches are leather, and Cooper never scratches them, and sometimes he tries to, LOL. Take her a small blanket or towel and put it on the couch for her to sit on...you might feel better that way...although she isn't going to hurt that couch, (I Promise!!) Your just nervous cause it's your BF's mother, that's all it is. Look at it this way...she is nervous of you too, your her son's GF!! Anyhow, How could anyone not take one look at Lexi and not love her, I'm mean really..just look at that face!! Try to have fun!! |
I would go and not worry about it. I am sure Lexi will do fine. |

why not just get an ex pen so Lexie doesn't have run of the house so she doesn't do anything. I know I would be nervous too. But I would be on the safe side and just get her an expen. |
could you maybe put up some baby gates in a place with non carpeted floors... we may go to disney next week and i need to get someone to watch my yorkies i'm hoping the niece can she live right behind us! i don't want to board them (cages) they would freak out! |
her nails are ok jen i think...... as far as the xpen, no way jose... if i have to confine her , i wont go at all.... im done worrying about this crap,im just a nervous nelly thats all... his mom and stepdad will be one monday morning and i will have the rest of the week to relax....if she pees, she pees. if they get mad..i will leave, solved, done... no problem.... whatever... look at me, im having an attitude with myself,, i think i lost it,,, i dont think his mom will get mad , maybe his stepfather, but he will just kick him in the ass thats all...and tell him where he should go. ok this is enough, im taking this tooo far.. sorry... im ok gals. im going to have a great time , the three of us and i will take loads of pictures of lexi... by the lake and outdoors... i'll will show ya when i return to yorkie talk beginning of august.... |
Well then, don't worry, have fun, and I hope the pee fairy doesn't visit too often! Maybe you will catch it before they see it. If she gets mad, she can just suck it! |
i would take baby gates, but with my luggage i take as if im going away for a year, he he he.. no i take everything.., there will be no room. my b/f has a corvette and we are taking that to penn. at least we will get there faster. |

I see that you have recieved loads of ideas. I hope you can enjoy yourself. Try and take her out often and keep an eye on her. I don't blame you for not wanting to confine her and you are definitely not a jerk. She is your baby. Please have fun and relax!!!! Good luck!!!! |

i would put shoes on her feet & take her for lots of walks make sure she knows where the pads are think this might be your chance to get her outside trained (if thats what you want ) or even 100% peepee pad trained since youll be ontop of her have fun dont worry shes a dog what can ya do lol |

I know how you feel. I always worry when I take Max and Abbie places because I'm afraid of what they will do. If Lexi pees or poops somewhere other than on the wee-wee pads just make sure you have stuff to clean it up. If his mom gets upset, then she gets upset (unfortunately). It's not like you are going to make her pick up after Lexi. And who knows-Lexi may surprise you and be a good girl all weekend :) Also, I don't think she'll scratch the leather couch. I have a leather couch and chair and it's really soft leather (seems like it would scratch easily.) Max and Abbie climb all over them and even sometimes Max starts digging on the leather and tries to bury his toys :eek: but even then there are no scratches. Try not to worry too much and have a great time :cool: |
i feel the same way when i go to someone's home. romeo LIKES to mark in other peoples houses. i walk him b4 we go in and make sure he is totally exhausted. then for at least the first hour i hold him on my lap. then i will take him to the bathroom and let him down to sniff a little. when i get a little confidence i put his blanket on a chair or couch and let him sit on it. (a blanket from home with his smell on it) then i hope for the best. it usually goes well. ** be careful in the poconos with ticks. lots of deer = lyme ticks. |
