Hitting herself Hey all.. I have a 13 month old.. and lately she's started to hit herself in the face.... has anyone ever experienced this????????? Is it just a phase? Should I be worried? I hold her hand and tell her no.. but once I let it go, she hits herself again... she only does it when she nurses.. it's really weird. |
problem I would talk to her doctor...always listen to your gut instinct.. |
problem I would talk to her doctor...always listen to your gut instinct and get more info..it is no doubt a phase, but always find out. |
Here's a link about mothers discussing this problem - I guess it's not that uncommon. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/index.php?...ion=188:36:168 |
I'm gonna call.. thanks for that link.. I checked it out.. I'm just gonna call and see what the nurse says... i'll let ya know what they say... Tashia |
she said maybe she's doing it for attention, or testing things out, just guessed a lot... she just said to try and discourage it and maybe if she keeps it up so stop nursing... said if it gets worse to see the ped.... ..... okkkkkie dokie |
Yes! Bryson does this! My son does the EXACT same thing!! He just turned 2. The doctor said to either ignore or discipline him by spanking. He started it about 3 months ago and I always ignore him or walk away and he very rarely does it now. The doc said they can't hurt themselves like that... (i dont know why not though) Good luck! =) |
Lol, I use to do the same thing as a kid. My mom just would ignore me until I stopped begging for attention. |
I'm 23 and still do that :p (not really) |
Since you said she does it while nursing, It could be a comfort thing. That is what our doctor had said about it. Something about the rythmatic motion... If she is having fits and hitting herself, then it is about attention. |
