Eyes? Okay, has anyone's eyes ever "dimmed" right after you get up, wake up, or walk inside/outside? My eyes do that a lot, like right when I wake up and stand up my vision gets really dark like a have to focus. Does anyone know what that means? |
Never heard of that before but maybe you should speak to your eye dr. about it. |
I think it's time to see the dr. Megan :) Let us know what they say. |
Sometimes (well a lot lately) when I get up from my chair or after I wake up in the morning and get out of bed everything goes black and I get dizzy.. Sometimes I'll find myself on the ground when I can see again! Or my hands shake.. No idea. My mom says I prolly just jumped up to fast :p |
This happens to me a lot, or at least I think its the same thing as you. Ok usuallly mine is when I'm sitting or lying down and get up somewhat quick. Its like my vision goes away for a second, everything goes dark. When I was a senior in high school (98-99) I went to a doctor in Atlanta for it. I had a few tests run on me basically he said I wasn't eating right. It still happens to this day. I'm a picky eater and if I haven't eaten enough/right that day then it will start happening. Sometimes I will just get the shakes (if I haven't eaten right) and others I "black out" for that second or two. I have to make sure I eat some carbs(the good ones) and some kind of protein at each meal. I could never do the Atkins. A lot of times I do skip breakfast and am fine though but lunch and dinner are a must and like I say carbs and protein and both of these. I would check with a doctor just to make sure it isn't anything. I would think that if it is anything it probably isn't your vision but something else. If you aren't eating right(I know it stinks) try to start until you go to the doctor at least and see if it helps. |
courtney- thanks for that info! i think it must be the eating thing- that makes a lot of sense |
Yeah trying eating a little bit better for a while and see if it stops. Like I can have a salad for lunch and still get the shakes or black out but if I have the same salad and just a little bit of meat (literally a little bit) I'm fine. Or if I snack all day on, well my snacks are usually cheetos or chips and little debbie snacks usually the chocolate kinds I will get the shakes or black out. Its not just about eating its about eating right. I'm not saying to have to eat only veges and fruits just try to keep it balanced. I'm not big on meats or veges so I have to make sure I get at least a little bit each day. I am the pickiest eater so I know its not fun but just find things you like and try that and if it doesn't help then I would check with a doc just to make sure. |
Could be low blood pressure? |
sometimes that happens to me. if I come inside and there aren't any lights on after I've been out in the sun for a while it takes me a few minutes to see clearly. if I get up really fast I sometimes feel dizzy, though. and if I'm focusing on one thing for a long time, then turn my attention to something else it's a little blurry for a second or two. weird. |
Yea that happens to me alot. I will get up and when I go into a room my vision will get all weird and I get dizzy and light headed and I have to hold still for a minute or I will fall or pass out. After that minute is over I am alright, though it does happen alot of times each day. I also wonder if it can be food related, I am a picky eater and have food allergies so I don't eat much. I might have to check into that, I never really thought about it before, thanks for the suggestion! |
That's what I was told. It has worked, if I eat better it doesn't happen. At the time that I had gone to the doctor I had been at work one day and my hands turned a shade of blue/green so the people there were like its diabetes. I was kinda like thier courier and they told me I couldn't drive anymore until I oked it with a dr, the blacking out thing kinda had them worried about liability problems. My hands ended up being something competely different than the eyes thing, but if it weren't for work I would've never gone to the dr. I guess had I just listened to my mother and ate better to begin with I wouldn't have had the eyes problem anyway. |
Some possibilities have been posted. You have to consider blood pressure, diet (blood sugar) and inner ear problems. But you need to see your dr. to determine the cause. |
:fainted: I think what my problem is is that I wasn't eating enough meat.. I ate two slices of some and haven't blacked out since today.. It's really weird, I'll totally not be able to see, black out, shake a bunch, and if I don't grab something quick i'll fall. Phew, I thought I was the only one and I was from another planet! :tongue036 |
Now I will say I do have low blood pressure, always have. The doctor I have now mentioned it but told me it shouldn't bother me unless I was outside and was hot, but then just to make sure you drink plenty of water. I also have never thought to tell her about my blacking out, I just started going to her a year or so ago and figured I had the blacking out figured out, my diet. Also I've never actually fallen or passed out, my vision just goes away for a few seconds and I feel really dizzy. Anyway I hope everyone gets everything figured out. |
